Livy's Challenge

She arrives.

She arrives.

Feb 22, 2026

This story is placed through a dogs POV. This dog doesn't know what some human things are called, and will get grammar wrong.

It was a nice evening. The house was pretty much quiet, the only noises were the snoring from the large male adult, and the music coming from the small humans square box thing.

The door was being kept open by a paint bucket. The humans didn't mind if I went outside, besides, the yard was fenced. Being trusted was awesome. The house my two humans lived in was white, small, and had a big yard with a long driveway. On most days, we would go outside, and sit out there for hours while the sun blazed.

No today though. They seemed tired.

I decided to step outside, take my legs for a stroll. Maybe chase a rodent. After all, my breed was mixed with a hunting terrier. The small human always called me a 'Toxirn' which I believe is the type of animal I am or something. The large human just calls me a mutt.

As I walked around the yard, I saw it. It was a small, probably still young, but not that young, tan, tabby cat. That thing was in my yard! I had to drive it out.

Now usually, you wouldn't find me having an issue with cats. But one of my humans were sleeping, and it was the stronger one who would have to protect the smaller one. So I would have to take that job.

The kitten thing barely saw me coming at first, but as I ran towards it, the cat jumped back, extended its little claws, and raked my whole face. I let out a yip.

This cat was not to be messed with. It was small, but like all cats, strong. I should have known that. I'm not stupid though. I ran back inside, deciding not to get myself even more hurt.

I ran up to the small human, who immediately must of seen my face and yelled out.

"DADDD!!"

Before I knew it, the big human was here. He just got up from his sleeping, and you could tell. His hair was messed up, and he looked tired. He put his hand under me, and lifted me up. I wasn't heavy. I was small.

The cuts didn't hurt too much. The cat must've not done a horrible thing.

The big human walked to the running water thing in the room where they went to do their business, and rinsed my face with cold ice water. Blah.

As he put me down, I turned to the doorway to exit the room, and it was there. The cat. The cat who clawed my face. That cat. It must have gotten through the open door.

I let out a bark, and the large human didn't seem too care much though. Had he noticed yet?
