Felix the warlock is wrapped in a blanket burrito when his phone starts to ring. After a minute, it goes silent. He listens to the deafening silence before there is another ping. A voice message notification appears on the screen and he opens it: "Hey, bud," Alex's smooth bard voice fills the stuffy air, "I know it's been a few weeks since they died," Felix cringes at the reminder of his dead mother and sister, "but you can't stay in your room forever. Especially since the bank is kicking you out." He forgot about that eviction notice. "I saw this roommate ad for a house right outside campus. It's $200 a month. I'll send you a pic and we can talk whenever you're ready, okay? Please, get well soon... I miss you..."
Alex is right; he can't hide in his room forever. Felix closes his phone and flings his blanket off. The rush of fresh air pricks his skin and the demon within stirs. It's time to go to the library.
