“If all the fangirls knew what your parents just asked you to do they’d be livid”
The message flashed onto my phone screen as the reality of the situation sunk in. I, Daniel Windsor, am the heir to the Windsor clan. A clan of wizards that have been prominent figures in the wizarding world for eons and most likely for the rest of time. A conniving, cruel, pretentious and horrible group of people if you were to ask a human, however, they are considered kind, humble and gracious leaders to a wizard. This difference alone should indicate how different each world is from one another. Another great example is the fact that my parents just asked me to make a love potion tonight to make a girl who they approve of love me.
I hit my head against the table as I recalled their words that suggested that I must be a failure just because I have never maintained a girlfriend for a period longer than 3 months. I mean, just look at all the fans I have. I could have any in an instant, but the point is I don’t want to. Can’t they just accept that??? Oh well, I may as well choose which girl will be my victim because I will not be getting out of this.
I quickly ripped open the pristine white envelope and pulled out the information of the first girl. I peered at the girl who has messy artificially blonde hair, sea blue eyes and a mischievous grin that made me uneasy. ‘Artemis’ was messily scrawled at the bottom of the photo of the girl who seemed to be just posing naturally for the photo. I looked closer and sadly found an ok hand which determined the fate of the girl. I could never marry a meme lord.
The next girl luckily did not hide an ok hand nor any other signs that related to memes. However, this red-headed, brown-eyed and kind-faced girl, seemed to be obsessed with roses. She had rose earrings, a necklace, dress and even held a rose between her delicate ivory fingers. I chuckled as I saw the name ‘Rose’ written on the corner. I flipped over the photo to read the main points:
- Well mannered
- Heir to O’reily pharmaceuticals
- Will assimilate well to our lifestyle
- Not a wizard
- Dresses well
Oh no, not one of them. Her profile, while short, screamed submissive spoiled only-child. Yes, she would be kind, but she would never be able to tell me what she wants. A downside, sure, but not horrible.
The last picture was of a girl clad in tights. She had bleach blond hair pulled tightly into a bun and icy blue eyes which peered emotionlessly into the camera. Bianca was typed perfectly onto the bottom right of the photo, but this wasn’t necessary as everyone knows Bianca. She became the school captain by a landslide of votes this year, she is the best dancer our school has ever produced and every person who liked girls wanted her. She was beautiful, charismatic and had the whole school in her hands and she knew it. She could easily command a room and thus I picked her.
I threw the photo to the side and picked up the potion that I had made before. Its crystal pink colour seemed to mock me as I swirled it around in its clear spray bottle. It seemed a little anticlimactic that only one spray could seal the fate of one girl so securely to myself. I felt sick to the stomach at what my family had asked of me. I would essentially be destroying the life and dreams of someone I hardly know who most likely have a bright future ahead of them. I sat there in a melancholic silence for a few minutes more than quickly climbed into my bed.
