Marvin is a 16 years old teen, he lives with his two brothers and his mother, and works in the fields to sustain them. Hugo is 12 years old, and Victor, 14. None of them has started working yet, at least not daily. Marvin wants them to enjoy childhood, something he couldn't do.
When he was 13, Marvin's father died, so the boy quit school so he could work full time. His mother, shortly after her husband's death, injured herself with a blade while working in the fields, the wound infected, and due to lack of treatment, her injured leg was amputated. Since then, the mother has been limited to housework. The young brothers help reselling candies in school, but the truth is that Marvin works a lot to sustain his family.
Marvin plans to move to the city as soon as he turns 18, abandon everything and not look back. It's a cruel plan, but Marvin had already decided. He didn't want to keep working to sustain the others. In his eyes, it was a huge injustice. Why did his father have to die? Why did his mother had to get injured? He was aware of what his plan could cause to his family, therefore, as an act of mercy, he would sustain, not only in part, but entirely, until his eighteenth birthday. He would let his brothers enjoy their childhoods while the day had not yet come, and that's what he did.
