                                                   TRAIN

I remember the day Jax and I met. It was a rainy day. There was nothing special about it except the fact that it rained.

I woke up that morning and got ready to go to school. Same as every other day. The rain had, however, made my mood a little better that day. See, like most people in the world, I loved the rain. There was something about that pitter-patter sound it made as it hit my roof that just seemed to lighten my mood.

My bedroom had this ceiling fan placed right above my bed so that every morning I would wake up and it was the first thing I saw. That particular morning though, on May 6th as it rained and my ceiling fan spun around so fast, I could barely tell how many blades it had, I spontaneously decided I would take the train. It wasn’t something I thought through really. All of a sudden, I felt my body being compelled to the train station for no reason whatsoever.

When I got to the train station after walking down streets deserted by people too afraid to go out into the rain for fear of catching a cold, I stood on the platform with five other people: A couple, two women tenderly cuddling each other either to keep themselves warm or just because they loved each other; A man with a briefcase in hand constantly looking at his phone, checking his watch, tapping his foot and grunting impatiently; A mother and her son both dressed in matching yellow raincoats and two blue umbrellas in hand. The mother, very beautiful with short ebony hair and the son about 8 years old was dressed very neatly clearly and with a large smile on his singing about how he loved rainy days.

The train arrived about ten minutes after I got to the train station. I remember looking around aimlessly when I had the familiar choo! Coming from afar then as I spun around to take a closer look, I was quickly slapped in the face by a white boater hat.

“Please, hold on to it for me!” shouted a voice from the train.
