Memories I will forever keep,

Storing them far within my heart,

A place that they may never part.

All these dreams, these treasured echoes,

From the windy roads up to risen plateaux.

On floating clouds and winds so gentle,

I'm happy to stay, so in this crevice I nestle.

This far-off crack in my mind so lost,

A reminder of the things forgot.

I used to know everything, every twist and turn.

Every leaf, every petal, every rock, every fern.

But now as my memories are stored away,

I have only this one, here to stay.

Of my home years ago, before it all burnt,

When the trees grew tall, before I learnt,

That some people can be careless,

They bring harm in their wake, no matter the fairness.

A burn so deep, imprinted on my brain,

Caused by man's harming hand, and hidden in vain.

I see it all day, the destruction and lies,

And only see paradise when I close my eyes.

Slowly but surely, every bit, every piece,

Of that land, long forgotten, is hidden away in that crease.

They fade away, one by one, gradually,

Until I'm left all alone, perpetually.

Just a ghost on this earth, 'til the sun sinks at last.

Just a reminder of the things of the past.

Of the snow-covered mountains, of the glistening sea,

Of before man took it all, of a bird no longer free.
