Akari was gulping her 3 rd drink in silence at the corner table by the window. She was one of the

regulars at the bar and the owner and staff were all familiar with her and her prefered drink.

Immersed in her thoughts Akari sat there completely silent like she was herself the part of the

furniture there. Sun was kissing the sky goodbye with its crimson light and the sky was welcoming

the light gaze of the moon. Akari was watching the sky intensely as if trying to search for some

hidden message in the dispersing clouds. She could sense the cold and darkness outside, the

night seems to be getting longer and longer slowly but definitely and will reach its prominence

on the night of winter solstice.

Akari was brought back to the physical world by a familiar tone coming from the mobile phone

of the person sitting at the next table. As soon as the tone fell on her eardrum an intense

uneasiness engulf her heart and she immediately found herself drifting in the past, she saw a

a glimpse of her old apartment which she used to share with her girlfriend Nicole. In this particular

flashback, Akari was calling out Nicole to join her on the couch,

Akari- " Bacchu (Akari used to call Nicole by this name)come soon the show is about to start,

you will miss the storyline if you skip the beginning"

Nicole came into the room wearing a loose white sweatshirt and blue pyjamas and hurriedly sat

on couch slid into Akari's arm, Akari adjusted the blanket over her and planted a kiss on her

cheek as they continued to watch the show.

The flashback was so surreal that Akari was able to remember the feel of Nicole's warmth over

her and this sensation was enough to haunt Akari for the rest of the night. Akari was a discreet

person with normal looks and crop hairs. However, she was very intelligent and had a

photographic memory which could be considered as a boom considering Akari's work as a

private investigator or a bane when she finds herself in painful flashbacks about Nicole. Some

people might also find her cute when she smiles but that was before. When Nicole was

physically present in her life, now smile seldom appears on Akari's face. The only permanent

feature now is the glint of sorrow that appears on Akari's face whenever she lets her wall down

a bit to feel.
