It had been 8 years since Rose, her family, and the people who came with them managed to make it to the new world. Today was the annual time to come together and celebrate there arrival. 

It was dark under the thick foliage of tree leaves and Rose clung unto her father as they walked through. "Were almost there." Her father had said to reassure her. She nodded and noticed light started seeping through the tree leaves. Finally there, they were welcomed by the chief, his wife and oldest son who led them to the center of the village. there was a huge fire lit and the smell of food and burning wood filled the air. She and her family and friends sat around the fire among'st the Cherokees.

While sitting there talking to her older brother Michel people came around passing them food. suddenly a voice caught her ear from beside her. "Hi, do you want some corn?" said a cheerful voice talking to her father. Then the girl walked over to her and said "Hi" to her while holding out a corn cob. Shocked Rose stared at the girl who looked maybe one or two years younger then her and felt her heart racing. Suddenly she snapped back when the girl asked her again " Well do you?". Staring into her eyes she nodded and accepted it. Looking down at the corn she smiled and blushed. "What was that?" Her brother asked staring at her strange. "n-nothing" she responded quickly while trying to stop blushing. "Em ok" he said while starting to eat.

A few hours later while it was getting dark and the girl accompanied by a few other girls started dancing. There dancing was beautiful but she only focused on her. Soon everyone joined in on the dancing. It was one of the most fun things she'd ever done but as all fun things do it passed quickly. 

After the dancing stopped they said there goodbyes and they all went home. Rose to a last glance at the Cherokee village as they went home.

When they were at home thoughts of the girl plagued her and as her mother tucked her in she asked "mom?". "Yes dear" she responded while kissing her forehead. "Have you ever liked a girl before?" Shocked at roses question she thought for a while then with a sharp tone responded "What a silly question. NO, and don't you ever think of that again". "O-ok goodnight mother" she said with a fake smile. "Goodnight" she said while walking out of the room.
