Franzlie canceled all her appointments for the day and drove herself to the supermarket. She needs to buy a few things and ingredients for her dinner from her father. While on the way to the supermarket, a drip of memory came across her head.
“Papa,” the crisp voice of the lovely girl that runs down the stairs to meet her old man at the door. She halts at the last step of the stairs with her arms wide open and her eyes full of bliss staring at his father.
“My lovely little girl, how are you today? Have you been a good girl while Papa is at work? Or don’t tell me you've been giving them a hard time because you have some silly things that have been done?”
A series of questions that he asked his daughter. He pats her head while the little lassie clings to him like a koala. Franz shakes her head as she replies to his father.
“Umm, Papa can we go somewhere?” her eyes pleads as she looks at her father. The old chap looks at his daughter with a furrowed brow.
“And where do you want to go?” the old chap asked her while loosening up his ties and folding the sleeves of his coat. He put down his things and signals to his subordinate to be ready. “Alright, since you've been a good girl, I’ll grant your wish for today, but be sure this is not going to waste our time going out. And besides I’m already famished so I guess I will eat out too.”
She hops off to his father and runs upstairs while telling him “Papa, wait I should change my dress. I don't like this one. It’s a bit awkward for all of you and it will catch attention too.”
She enters her room and runs to her closet and picks a pair of faded jeans and a black shirt and her black trench coat. Franz doesn't waste her time; she quickly takes off her floral dress and puts on the jeans and the shirt and tops up with her trench coat. She pulls a pair of canvases for her sole to complete her get-up. She picks up her white sling bag and puts her phone and wallet inside. Franz gazes at the mirror and turns as she holds the knob of her door’s room and walks out.
Descending once again to the stairs her father is stunned at how she looks. “Sweetheart, you don’t like a girl in your attire. Who would suggest that way of dressing up for you?” Her father would disagree with her getting up, but she replied to him.
“Papa, I don’t like being the center of attention when I’m with you, it’s better to stay like this than be a target of your opponent at the business. Isn’t it a good idea that you’ll not be worried about me if I go out in decent attire because they may think you have a lovely and handsome kid? Isn’t my idea brilliant so I can lore your opponent in the underworld?”
Franzlie would explain to her father about her attire and her father loves her clever idea. “Alright, it seems that you do learn things about how my world looks and in time it will be yours.
“Are you ready, shall we go now?” he asked Franz with all his pride and he’s proud of her daughter.
“After you Monsieur McGregor” Franz tries to make a little hilarious scene with her father. And the old chap would laugh at her comical action. As they strode out with her father's subordinate following them. One of them opened the door to both father and daughter.
Upon reaching the driveway Franz would open the passenger seat. She doesn’t wait for any of them to open for her. The old chap gazed at his daughter who even at her young age tried to act like a grown-up in front of his subordinates. And this time, she changes the aura of her face from a sweet little lassie to a stern-looking young lady. Her father admires the demeanor of his daughter.
First, they reach an Italian restaurant. She slips out of the car and waits for a moment for her father to come to her side and they stride in. A server greets them as soon as they enter the premises, and the beautiful petite lady ushers them to their reserved table at the corner hall near the window with some tulips planted.
The ambience is cozy and Franzlie lets her eyes roam at the diner. Her father would stare at her while she surveyed the whole diner.
“Do you like it here? Or you want to move out and try another diner?” her old man asked her, and she shook her head while taking the menu from the server.
Although she still knows how to read, she chooses to be quiet and uses sign language to communicate to the server. The server looks down at the menu as she told her to. The server herself does enjoy how she communicates and assists her with a smile. And compliment her that she’s a beautiful and smart girl. Franzlie appreciates the nice words for her, and she smiles more at the server.
His father watches her and is shocked at what she has done. But he keeps observing her daughter. Even the subordinates that occupy the table far from them are stunned by what she has done. They know that she can speak four different languages fluently but right now they can only wow the daughter of their boss.
One of their subordinates laughs at her and she looks at him with a murderous stare. The only thing that others can do to the lad is to eradicate him from the table and throw him out of the diner. But Franzlie interferes with the others when they hold him forcefully. She let him stay and keep herself calm. Franz would look at the server once again and smile brightly as she signaled her hand to thank her.
The server walks over to the other table and takes all their orders. In a matter of minutes, the server is done taking all their orders and proceeds to the counter to forward the order. She gathers goblets and plates and sets the table for them, but when Franzlie gets up on her seat; she bumps the elbow of the server making the tray wobble on her right hand. Franzlie swiftly holds the tray firmly away from the server as her legs stretch out unevenly to catch the girl so as not to fall on the cold floor.
Franzlie catches the attention of the diners that dine in the Italian restaurant. The server owes appreciation for saving her from a lot of mess which may result in being laid off. Immediately one of her father’s subordinates quickly takes the tray to her and she holds onto the table to let the girl take her stand first before she gets back standing. She bows her head blissfully to the server and asks for directions to the restroom. The server does understand her, and she replies to follow her so she can usher her to the restroom. She gazes back to her father and the old chap just nods his head and signals one of his men but Franz frowns and shakes her head in disagreement. The old chap had nothing to do but let her with the server to accompany her.
Halfway to the restroom, the manager sees the server with Franzlie, the manager seems annoyed seeing her being accompanied by the server. The server froze to where she stood as the manager looked at her. She is like a frightened mouse being cornered by a big bully cat. Franzlie, although she’s not fully grown up, she understands the body language that the manager wants her to. But she just smirks at the man that blocks their way.
“What the hell are you smirking for boy?’’ the manager barks at her. Still, Franzlie didn’t heed what the manager asked her. The manager feels insulted as Franzlie doesn't reply to him, the man grabs her collar and tries to push her to the wall, but Franzlie is quicker than him. She ducks and tends a dropkick on the lower limb of the manager. The manager wails in pain and curses her.
Arthur gets worried because she hasn't come back to their table yet and the food has been served. The restroom is just a few steps away. He asked his subordinate to look for her daughter because the lassie is up to something that’s why she doesn’t talk, rather do hand language.
Two of his subordinates looked for her and found her near the restroom with the manager wailing on the floor.
“My apologies he just tries to protect me because he is being mean to me and when he sees the young lad here smirks, he tries to harm him, but the young man is quicker than him and he retaliates the attack on him. That’s why the manager is wailing on the floor and cursing the boy.
Without the word one of the men grab the manager but the other one signals the server to accompany their little boss to their table. The server quickly grabs Franzlie's hand, and they strode back to her table. Arthur feels a sigh of relief when he sees his daughter with a smile but when he gazes at the server, the server turns pale, and he looks back to Franzlie. Franzlie just shrugs and gets back to her seat.
Franzlie McGregor, the youngest daughter of the McGregor family, met Drystan Lynne Brown, a business tycoon and a humble, loving son with a friendly demeanor. It was a fortuitous meeting. Franzlie loves children, but her colleagues are intimidated by her unyielding attitude.
It remains to be seen whether Drystan and Franzlie will be a good match. Drystan is a man of action, while Franzlie is more of a thinker. They have different backgrounds and different ways of looking at the world. It will be interesting to see how they interact and whether they can overcome their differences. Only time will tell if Drystan will be able to tame her.
Drystan is a strong and determined man. He is used to getting his own way. Franzlie is also strong and determined, but she is also independent and doesn’t like to be told what to do. It will be interesting to see if Drystan can be patient enough to win her over.
Franzlie is also very intelligent and quick-witted. She is not afraid to challenge Drystan, which he finds both refreshing and infuriating. It will be interesting to see if they can learn to respect each other's differences.
The couple was forced into an arranged marriage by their parents. They did not love each other and only maintained a civil façade in front of their elders. However, their pretenses were shattered when Franzlie was almost assassinated by her clan's enemy.
