"What is the meaning of this?" I asked, my eyes getting full of tears. "Ioan, answer me!" I continued with a hoarse voice.
I was hardly holding back my tears, looking at Ioan half naked in front of me, and behind me, his ex-girlfriend was standing in the bed with only a bra. What they were doing was straightforward and light, and the smirk on her face was the definitive proof.
Irene was a woman, jealous and possessive; she cheated and left him for another man after years of relationship with Ioan; he was so heartbroken at that time. And after nine months of a relationship, he did the same to me?
He stood before me, looking down; he dared not even dare to look at me or say something.
"Alright, let's break up!" he looked at me instantly, panic in his eyes, while a big smile appeared on Irene's face.
"Maria, I'm sorry," he said in a half-voice. A tear suddenly fell down, wetting my cheeks. Was that all he could say? Asshole!
He was the one asking me out, the one who confessed his love to me, and the one who shared the pain of being cheated on, and now he was there just standing and saying sorry as a jerk.
That was the last time I was those fuckers. I grabbed my things and went out. And now, after days of crying, I am at this motel, looking at my job-hunting results.

I left my job two weeks ago to be in this city with that idiot. I did some interviews, and all of them were Denied. "How can I be so unlucky?" I sighed out of frustration.
He wasn't someone I had just met; somehow, we knew each other since childhood and grew up together.
"I was such a fool," I sighed in frustration. Indeed, I was an idiot.
I shut my laptop and found myself staring at the ceiling of the motel room. I had to do something. In a split second, my eyes were tearing. I was crying. After my parents kicked me out without a place to stay, I accepted a job in a small company with a freak as a boss. I tried hard to get a place to stay, and after a year, I got in touch with Ioan again.
Tears were heavy on my cheeks; in fact, this was the first time I had cried in years, and those years had added tons of frustration. It felt like a dam had burst, and all the pent-up emotions poured out simultaneously.
I don't remember when I fell asleep, but I awakened with puffy and red eyes.
I took a shower, put on jeans, a plain white shirt, and sunglasses to cover my puffy eyes, and then went downstairs to pick up some croissants and coffee.
I stayed here for three days; now it's time to move on. Motels will become quite expensive after a while.
I grabbed my breakfast and went back to my room. It was time for me to start looking for a job. I stood on the bed with my laptop and started checking my emails. As I did that, I took a deep sip of my coffee—it was exactly what I needed to start my day.
One caught my eye as I leisurely sipped coffee and scrolled through emails. "B-Corp, the big company from Chicago?" Excited to read the details, I accidentally spat out a mouthful of coffee in surprise as I saw "ACCEPTED" at the end.
I reread the document to better understand my role: " Congratulations. We are glad to communicate that you passed the selection and obtained the role of secretary."
I once more couldn't believe my eyes. It was true!
One week later.
I've got this tiny apartment in a condo near the company. The big windows show the city, which is magnificent, even if it's cloudy.
"You got this! you are a secretary at B-Corp now, everything is goof till you end as the secretary of the ruthles ìs director!" the one director known as a big shot usually gets all the contracts without fail. But he is known as a workaholic, and none of his secretaries ever lasted more.
But I am on the secretary team, so I'm super lucky.
Or so I thought.
"Miss, this is the ninth floor, and your work desk is over there." I nodded in understanding, but something was off. Where were all the other secretaries?
"I'm sorry. Where are the others?" She stood there, looking at me perplexed, and then, once in front of my desk, she said, " You are currently the only secretary for Director K."
I knew it! Something was off, and I couldn't have as much luck as I thought.
"I understand," I said without adding more; I felt the crumble.
She gestured for me to follow her, and as we approached a large door, she sighed before knocking. "That was far from reassuring."
"Director, it is me, Louise," said her as she waited for a sight to go in.
"Come in," a soft and decisive voice said from inside. Then the head secretary opened the door. I was speechless. Behind a pile of various documents on the desk sat a young man with a mesmerizing gaze, sharp violet eyes, and wavy dark hair.
We stood before him, but he had yet to look in our direction.
"Director, this is Maria, your new secretary." At that moment, he stopped and looked in my direction. "Pleased to meet you, I'm Maria." Short and concise, he said. He nodded in approval.
"You can show her the desk," said him to Louise. "Maria," said Loo, King right at me, " take this and reschedule it." just like that, my first task. "Yes, Director," he nodded again, approbation.
We said goodbye and left his office. My desk was in the room before his.
"This is my contact information for any inconvenience. My office is on the fourth floor. Our office hours are from 9 to 13 and from 14 to 18," said clearly and concisely.
"Alright, thank you!" I noticed she was eager to leave, and she did as soon as we finished our conversation.
I sat at the desk; the chair was really comfy, and everything was in the correct order. I then opened the file that the director gave me.
It was nothing that challenging to do, but it was tricky.
Hours passed as fast as a spit of seconds, and it was already lunchtime.
