The light snow slowly fell on the sleepy city and the clouds that the snow fell from covered up the night sky. The air was cold and crisp causing every time you breathe out it would send a pillar of fog to the sky. On the curb outside a chinese restaurant was a small woman holding a bag of takeout food and she was slightly scowling.
This was Diamond Silvervine, and she stood a mere five feet tall. She was wearing a dark brown hooded coat, black backless sports bra, matching black yoga pants with flare pants, and a pair of cheap black and red sneakers. Her hood was covering up her platinum blonde hair that was styled in a low ponytail and her hood hid her pale face in the shadows. The scars on her face ran deep, one was found on the left eye, a small one on the corner of her lip on the left side and one on the right side of her strong jawline.
While waiting for her ride she heard footsteps walking past her as she had her eyes closed, and her free hand was in her coat’s pocket. Those footsteps stopped, “Dude, think I can get her number?” One male voice whispered but she could hear them clear as day on this quiet night.
“I don’t know, she could be underage for all we know.” A different male said, and she heard one set of footsteps walking towards her and a low groan from a male that feared she was underage. Diamond heard the young man talking to her, though she blocked him out, and she heard the car she was waiting for coming.
Diamond finally opened up her silver eyes and could smell the man was slightly drunk. He said something before stumbling backwards and started to fall into the street but Diamond grabbed his shirt with her free hand and easily tossed him behind her. “Fuck off,” Diamond said with an icy and impersonal manner.
The car that Diamond was waiting for was a blue sleek sports car that was low to the ground and it stopped right in front of her. The passenger door opened up allowing Diamond to slide in and the door closed once she was seated. “Not the most practical car to drive in this weather, Ophelia.” Diamond said as she buckled up her seat belt and put her hood down.
Ophelia Ashwood, the lady in the driver seat, was a five feet and six inches tall woman with deep chocolate skin tone, deep blue eyes and dark brown chocolate medium length hair reaching her shoulders with bangs covering her right eye. She was wearing a black pencil skirt, sleeveless white turtleneck, dark blue suit jacket, gold pearl necklace, and hanging on her ears were matching pair hanging sapphire earrings.
Diamond knew Ophelia hid under her bangs, a three finger claw scarring over her right eye and Diamond noticed she had switched out her high heels for flats to drive, as her favorite pair of heels were knocking against Diamond’s feet.
“Well I was taking this one into storage and taking out my suv for winter.” Ophelia said as started to drive. Diamond opened the takeout bag on her lap and stopped sensing Ophelia disapproval. “Don’t worry you’re going to be on a stake out with a moonflower officer.” The car stopped a red light and Ophelia leaned over to open the glovebox before returning her focus to driving.
Inside was a police folder and Diamond pulled it out before closing the glovebox. She opened the folder and saw pictures of a shredded up body with the parts scattered around the area. “The victim, Jasmine Teller, was found at an abandoned construction site on the east side.” Ophelia explains as turned down an alleyway. “Prime hunting grounds for the less lawful members of all three races.”
Ophelia stopped the car once beside a black four door truck with a bed cover that was parked across from the abandoned construction site, where the body was found. “Your stop and please play nice this time.” Diamond rolled her eyes at Ophelia's words and got out of the car. Once out of the car Ophelia drove off allowing Diamond to open the truck door to enter it.
Diamond sat down in the passenger seat of the truck and in the driver seat was a six foot tall caucasian male officer. He had short light brown messy hair, five o’clock stubble on his face, and rich brown eyes that were looking over Diamond. He was wearing black chinos pants, white dress shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbow, a simple black tie and right forearm was bandage wrapping.
“I’m Chris Quinn,” He said while Diamond opened her takeout bag and ignored Chris’ words. “And you must be Diamond Silvervine, stories seem to be true so far.” Diamond continued pulling out a white chinese takeout box and opened it up.
Chris shrugged his shoulders and pulled a picture from his shirt pocket to show Diamond. “This is who we are waiting for to show up, Ivan Popov.”
Diamond pulled out some chopsticks but paused to look at the picture of their target. He was a bald caucasian man with blue eyes and a full grown beard. “He may not completely like this picture.” Chris placed the picture on the center console and could tell Diamond was now listening.
“The victim got his DNA under her nails and there was enough to test for drugs.” Diamond nodded before starting to wolf down the Chinese food she just opened. “The drug found was heroin, and strong stuff at that too. I don’t get why a ther-”
Chris stopped talking when he noticed Diamond stopped eating in the middle of her noodles. She was staring outside before swallowing what was in her mouth, “He’s here.” Diamond said as closed her noodles and moved the rest of her food to the passenger side floor. “What were the on-sight orders?”
Chris moved to grab the shotgun from the gun rack on the suspect transport enclosure wall, “Neutralize by any means needed, he has been labeled a threat to all,” Chris said as both of them got out of the truck. “I’ll follow your lead on this.” Chris followed Diamond as she walked towards the abandoned construction site where she saw their target enter.
“It won't take long,” Diamond said as she smelt the air and caught the strong scent of old blood. The scent led them down into a large pit where the building foundation would’ve been poured and Diamond held up a fist to stop Chris.
She pointed him to hide behind a pile of steel beams and Chris nodded and moved behind the pile. The site was dark for human standards and in the pit far worse, for Diamond and the target it was clear.
Diamond saw their target squatting on the ground and muttering something in Russian and Diamond's nose twitched from his scent. It was clear Ivan hadn’t showered since he killed Jasmine and was wearing some raggy dirty shirt and torn pants that match his scent.
Diamond’s causal walking made enough noise to make Ivan look up at her and his face was nothing like the picture now. He had bloodshot eyes that were sunken into his skull, he looked skin and bones, missing multiple teeth, and patches of hair from his beard.
Ivan yelled out something in Russian before he started to spasm and his blue eyes shifted into golden eyes. The pit started to fill with the sound of bone cracking and human speech shifting into wild animal growling.
The sight of this transformation would cause a normal person to feel nausea, to Diamond it was normal to see a man transform into a monstrous werewolf. Though Ivan's full transformation form looked more like a starving dog with mange and not the hulking beast that a healthy werewolf would look like.
“COME ON, MUTT!” Diamond roared as she shifted her stance and fist clenched at her side. Ivan let out a roar before lunging forward to land on Diamond, Diamond was quicker and side stepped the lunge making the target land in front of her on all fours.
Diamond quickly raised both of her fists over her head, she slammed those fists down on the back of the target's neck. There was a loud bone breaking crack when Diamond’s fists made contact and force transfer to body made it slam into the ground causing it to kick up a lot of sand.
Diamond quickly pulled a silver stake from her coat's inner pocket and she could see clearly through the sand cloud to stab Ivan’s temple with the silver knife.
Diamond let go of the handle of the knife and stood up straight, “It’s done,” Diamond called out and the sand cloud was clearing as Chris walked out of his position to stand beside Diamond. Chris looked at the body as it slowly shifted back to a human form.
“Good job,” Chris said as he crouched down to get a better look. “I’ll call it in.” He pulled out his cell phone and paused as his eyes trailed to where the target was digging. “Mind staying with the body, I’ll go get my shovel to see what he was digging up.”
“Bring my bag of food then too,” Diamond said and pulled a disinfectant wipe out of her coat to clean off her hands. Chris nodded as he stood up and started to walk back to the truck while on the phone to call in the body.
