The 'Omegaverse' takes place in an 'alternate reality' where men get an extra set of genders when they come of age, namely Alpha, Beta, or Omega.

'Alphas' are at the top of the pyramid, 'betas' are known as normal or regular men, while 'omegas' are men who develop a miniature womb and single ovary during adolescence and can get pregnant, and give birth.

Alphas are further divided into 'regular' and 'dominant' alphas.
'Regular alphas' have no control over their pheromones and are easily affected by the pheromones of omegas in heat.

'Dominant alphas' on the other hand, can control the release of their pheromones and have a higher tolerance against an omega's pheromones.

They can use this pheromone to dominate other alphas and send omegas into 'forced heat'.

'Omegas' are physically weaker than alphas and release strong 'pheromones' when they go into their heat or 'estrus' cycle. This pheromone can easily send a regular alpha into 'rut', turning them wild with lust, which lead to omegas getting attacked and molested.

This is the reason why omegas are usually shunned and abused by other people, particularly, by alphas.

There are no dominant omegas.

They have no control over their own bodies when they go into heat, and need to drink strong 'suppressants' to stop the release of their pheromones.

These 'suppressants' usually come with adverse side effects which may affect their growth and mental development.

During 'mating', an alpha in rut bites and 'marks' an omega in heat on the nape and secretes hormones into the omega's bloodstream.

These hormones are known to change the marked omega's body, making it impossible for them to mate with other people, may they be women, alphas, betas, or fellow omegas.

An alpha can 'mark' several omegas, but an omega can only be 'marked' by a single alpha during their heat.

Using a 'collar' can help prevent accidental or unwanted 'markings'.

An omega's mark can only be removed through the alpha's death, and forcefully separating a marked omega from their alpha can lead to 'Pair Withdrawal Syndrome' (PWS) which could cause mental and physical illness that could eventually lead to the omega's death.

Pair Withdrawal Syndrome is often confused with the fictional ailment, 'Fated Pair Syndrome' (FPS) which stems from the belief that each and every alpha has a 'fated pair' omega destined for them, and vise versa.

In FPS, both the alpha and omega pair show signs of PWS when separated, even without the presence of a bite mark.

Most experts say that this is merely a severe case of PWS, but further research show otherwise.

Nevertheless, more evidence is needed to prove that this myth is indeed a reality.
