The weather seems nice today. The sun is warm, birds are chirping, kids in light blue gowns are playing around the hospital yard. But all of these don't affect that one girl in a wheelchair. Her face looks tired, she doesn't even have any energy to look up the sky. All she can do is wait for her brother so that she can get another stale update from the doctor while the IV drip echoes her ears.
Her life goes on only like this so that she no longer finds it negative or boring, maybe she's used to it now. But fate has its own way. Taeho comes from the direction of the sun's ray, hard to differentiate if it's the sun or Taeho to be this warm. He seems so calm and cheerful while roaming around the hospital even though he's having a cast on his left hand. He stopped wandering when a familiar figure caught his attention so he moves forward to the dull, tired figure and a soft yet astonishing voice comes out of his curious throat, "Sora!" She looks up, praying for someone not known to her. It seems like her fortune is never on her way that it made her came across to one of her classmates that she isn't even close with, yet his sparkling doe eyes and warm aura caught her gaze.
But the curious puppy on the other hand doesn't even look bothered by how close they are with each other. It rather made him concerned by how Sora looks on the wheelchair. His concern makes him ask, "How are you? What even happened to you? You look so pale..." even before he could finish his words, Sora breaks her eye contact and tries to run away with the drip. Taeho's right hand follows her way and quickly grabs the wheelchair which makes Sora out of situation, yelling on him, "Let me go you stupid", she leaves him while he stands there dumbfounded.
Next day at school, the day continues like it always does, nobody is bothered by anything, the students keep filling the classroom, girls and boys are chatting and Sora, as always being herself, sitting by the window, waiting for her companion to join her. Her only companion comes as usual and was about to sit beside her but seems like the fate is again playing with her. A tall yet built up male figure pushes the fragile girl beside Sora and sits on the desk like it's his territory. The fragile girl becomes furious and was about to throw her hands but a warm, pleading voice comes from the other side saying, "Let me sit with her today please."
SHOOT! It's Taeho!
Sora looks at him but his eyes are too convincing to say him NO for that one day, maybe, deep down in her heart, Sora wanted him to sit beside her, maybe she still has the moment from yesterday in her subconscious mind that couldn't face the guy that day. But she can't show it, she can't let someone know about her desires that can't even come to reality, so the entire period went on silently.
Later at the recess, the silence breaks by Taeho's interference, "Your bones look fine so why did you look so miserable?" Sora replies with a clod yet informal tone, "You go first." slightly looking at his cast. Taeho doesn't seem to be serious like cracking his bone is a regular course of life, "I tripped while doing my dance practice" sighs, "I won't be going for the auditions this year." "So you still didn't pass the audition?" Sora says. He playfully replies "That's harsh!" This made her chuckle a bit but soon an awkward silence breaks out which gets cut out by Taeho, "Now it's your turn." This time he seems serious.
Sora's smile fades. This is not what she was there for. She is just a normal girl of the class who doesn't have many friends. Who would like to be friends with a girl who never shares about herself but would know everything about others? Isn't she suspicious? OH! This girl is so grumpy and unfunny. Or should we call her boring? That's how people know Sora, so does Taeho. Now Sora has to maintain her image like how her classmates know her. "Are we that close to discuss matters?" Usually her classmates would be so annoyed by her cold reply, they would call her 'Rude' and leave her. She gets to know about someone's weakness but denies to tell hers after that.
All of these don't bother a warm, careless puppy. The puppy is like a sunshine which will shine for you anyway even if you curse it or put an umbrella against it. "We aren't strangers anyways." Taeho talks back. Yes, they aren't close but neither someone to ignore. Sora shouldn't bother about what he will think of her nevertheless, deep down, she wants to spit it out, the secret she's keeping in herself. She doesn't want anyone to pity her for that one reason yet she has always been looking for someone to vent it all. Will it be this guy? The guy who was just a mere classmate to her, so for him as well. Pulling her character on with all the conflicts in her mind, she speaks, "Yeah sure! Since we're not close, it won't affect you." Taeho was about to be unserious but gets cut off by Sora, "I've second stage Leukemia (a type of cancer of blood forming tissues)"
There is a silence, silence yet too loud, that the both of them can hear. This time Taeho doesn't seem curious but concerned, concerned about himself that how he should take such news when he thought he's just getting along with a girl. His concern disturbs the silence saying, "How can you say it won't gonna affect me?" His voice trembles signalling Sora about the upcoming waves of condolence. She, with a sombre tone, utters, "Taeho, don't let anybody know about it. I don't want to get any princess treatment for my illness."
She gets up from her sit and was about to leave when Taeho speaks, "Then why did you tell me?" She mumbles in agony that's unnoticed by Taeho from her back, "Because I felt like telling you."
