One little light

Unexpected consolation

Unexpected consolation

Aug 29, 2025

The subway train rushed along at its usual speed, turning the view outside the window into a blur. Only the city lights on the other side of the river they were crossing made the scene look more colorful. She stood leaning against the window, gazing at the horizon.
What should I do now? Nastya had gone out of town, she didn't feel like reading a book, and movies had become boring.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a notification. She unlocked the screen and aimlessly began scrolling through her feed. A video clip from some drama caught her attention.
Oh, such a cute scene, maybe I should watch it after all? She took a screenshot of the title. The train stopped at her station, and the girl wearily walked toward the escalator.

Today had been especially exhausting, and she was glad the weekend was ahead with no need to meet anyone. For several months already, she had been feeling tired and drained inside. It wasn't that anything hurt, but she had no energy for anything. Work brought no joy, and she and her husband had moved to different cities. In the end, she found out about his betrayal, which tormented her heart even more. She felt she wasn't in the right place, not with the right people, not where she belonged. Yet she found no way out, so she spent more and more of her free time alone—walking in the park, listening to music, trying to read or watch movies. But all of it went by in the background. Her stream of thoughts was unstructured, rushing fast and chaotically, like atoms.

After a shower, wrapped in a warm robe and armed with tea and snacks, Arina turned on the drama she had found. It turned out to be a Korean romance, with a gentle yet slightly twisted plot. From the very first minutes, it captured her attention—which was unusual, since she usually preferred American crime films. But the light storyline, the hidden depth of meaning, and the breathtakingly beautiful main character enchanted her.

That evening, she had planned to watch only a couple of episodes and go to bed early. Yet she only came back to herself when a gust of wind shifted the curtain, revealing the glowing disk of the moon in the sky.

This story is about music, friendship and love, but above all, it is about people.
I wanted to show not the glamorous facade of the industry, but its flip side — the fears, doubts and price paid by those who decide to follow their dreams.

Even in the darkest moments, there may be those who believe in you more than you believe in yourself. It's about how music becomes salvation, and simple words of support become a force capable of changing destinies.
