Altair gazed upon the stars. The raven-haired man laid on the grass, his large wings stretched beneath him. The large crimson-stained wings a painful reminder of his sins. Once a pure white, like freshly fallen snow, now a rustic crimson from the blood of those he was forced to kill. As he stared at the sky his emerald green eyes, clouded with pain and doubt, he contemplated the events which lead up to this point. His best friend, his lover, his mate; stripped away from him. He fought long and hard to try and redeem himself but his lover was so tantalizing, so erotic, so forbidden; he couldn't stay away. Tears filled his eyes as he held the wound in his chest, the crimson blood spilling out at an alarming rate, his life began replaying through his mind.
Altair was a soldier, an angel of the lord. He worked directly under Michael, God's right hand. Michael loved the humans, protected them, and admired their freedom. Because of this, Altair admired Michael, looked up to him, aspired to be more like him. The other angels that worked directly under Michael included Tristain, Cassiel the watcher, and a few other angels. Altair had fought along side Michael against Lucifer during the fall. Seeing his fellow angels fall from heaven took a toll on Altair. Cassiel was quick to console Altair. They were the best of friends.
Some of the fallen angels became deities of many a faith, some joined Lucifer in his sinful haven; hell. Most of the fallen angels, the ones who were created as followers and were untainted by the sin of pride, untainted by arrogance, those became Lucifers demons. Their once white, black or brightly colored wings with soft fluffy feathers; were now nothing more than spiny leathery bat-like wings. The thought of his brethren becoming unholy, mindless creatures, made Altair shudder.
As he laid upon the cold grass, he closed his eyes and thought back to the first moment he saw Tristain. The blonde-haired angel with deep pools of blue, like the clearest ocean; wings of gold shimmering in the sunlight. The beauty of Tristain never ceased to amaze Altair. He exhaled audibly as he lost consciousness.
