INT. PARTY AT HOUSE — NIGHT

Everybody at the party is talking. Some people are on the couch.

Human 1 : “Where did you get your hair done?”

Human 2 : “Well, actually I did it myself.”

Human 1 : “Oh really?”

Human 2 : “Yeah! It was really simple—”

Some people are walking around, some leaning at the party table. EARL is leaning on the wall in the back of the party, scrolling on his phone. SOPHIE spots him and smacks him on the shoulder.

SOPHIE

(jokingly)

“Hey loser, what’re you doing in the corner?” 

EARL : “Oh..Nothing much..Just..bored.”

Sophie looks at him incredulously.

SOPHIE : (Suspicious) “You? Bored? At a party? What’s wrong?”  

EARL : “Nothing..! I’m just..just..” (Earl trails off)

Someone catches Earl's eye, he stares at them, the sound around him becomes inaudible. They look back at Earl, but they turn away and blend into the crowd. Earl goes to try and stop them, but then Sophie leans over into his way.

SOPHIE : (a bit annoyed) “Hey” (Pause) “Are you listening?”

Earl snaps out of it and looks back at her.

EARL : (A bit nervous) “Yeah..! Yeah.”

She eyes him down, going on her tippy toes to reach his level before shrugging and going back down.

SOPHIE : “Okay”

A beat. And a faint ringing sound can be heard.

SOPHIE (CONT’D): “..You’re right. This party’s boring.” (She pauses to think) “Sooo..what would you do..if you were abducted by aliens?”

EARL : (Laughs) “What? That’s so random”

SOPHIE : (shrugging) “That’s what happens when you’re bored.”

EARL : “Hmm..I’d probably..”

Suddenly, there's an abrupt whiteness and ringing. Earl is knocked out.

Earl wakes up in a voidless space. Barred up in an all white room.

EARL : “Where..am I?”
