In the halls of a hospital ward, in front of a patient's room, a kid was hiding his face from the outside world. 

Putting his face in between his legs, he tries to shut off everything around him but to no avail as he could hear familiar footsteps getting close to him. 

[It's my fault]

"Hey, kiddo, don't beat yourself up too much", a familiar voice said to him. 

"But, I hurt her, I invented that...stupid thing and she got hurt and it's all because of...me", He replied as cries of guilt could be heard from his tone. 

"You're right", the voice told him. The words were true and had affirmed him of his feelings, but

"But, you weren't trying to, were you?", the voice continued. 

"We humans had made so many things, inventing things to improve each other's lives, but with those hands to create, we could also harm the ones around us", the voice continued. 

"What's the point in creating if we harm the ones around us", the boy questioned. 

"But, I know you weren't making something to hurt her, you were just trying to make something to protect her, to protect all of us"

The boy raised his head up, looking upon the figure in front of him, 

"Kiddo, remember, science is never meant to be used to hurt others, but it's for us to keep moving forward". Suddenly a repetitive loud noise could be heard

"Dad", a boy said, waking up from the recurring dream by the alarm. He turned it off, seeing the time 4:00, It's late. 

He let out a sigh and got out of his bed. After putting on his usual workwear, he glanced at the table near a window of his room, seeing a watch-like object sitting on top of it.

[Father...]

He reached out to it and put it back inside the drawer. 

Going down to the kitchen, he started preparing breakfast for his mother and siblings. 

[I need to wake them up after this] 

"Morning, Lei", his mother called, rubbing her eyes. 

"Morning, mother, breakfast is on the table, eat up", Lei said whilst cleaning his part of the dishes

She then started eating.

"Sorry that you have to wake up early and prepare us breakfast, I know-"

"Don't say sorry mother, It's just...what I have to do"

Silence then filled the room. 

"Hey, Lei, you know I have got this friend who recommend me a university you can go to, maybe you can-"

"I think...I won't mother, Mei and Kai needs it more than I do"

"I...see"

Lei looked at the time, it was 5:30 A.M. 

"I need to wake both of them up, you should prepare for work, mother", he said as he went up. 

He entered his siblings room and shook them. 

"C'mon Kai, wake up, breakfast is ready"

"5 more minutes, brother", Kai said. 

Lei sighed and woke Mei instead, "Mei, wake up, breakfast is ready"

She slugishly woke up. 

"Yeah, yeah I know"

"Help prepare Kai for me will you, I need to go to work to after this"

"Leave it to me, bro"

He then left the room.

"Lei, I am going okay?"

"Yes mother" 

He then went back to his room, checking his bag. 

[Screwdriver...check, Magnifying googles...check...I think that's all I need] 

After his siblings had breakfast, they all said their goodbyes to him. 

"Be careful you two, don't get into trouble"

He then wore a helmet and went to work with a motorcycle. At one moment, he got into a slight traffic jam. Cars and other motorcycles honked left and right

[Sigh, seriously, even in the morning why is everybody so loud]

After escaping traffic, he finally arrived at his job, Manson's Clock.

"Old man! I am here", He said as he opened the door. 

"Oi! Lei, mornin, why do you look like a fish drowning?"

"Haha, keep the jokes low old man, I didn't have enough sleep", He said as he dropped his bag and went to his workbench.

"Sigh, shouldn't you be with those other boys out there, you know, going to school and all, or even going out getting girls",

[Yeah, as if] 

"I said to keep the jokes low old man, besides, I don't have time for that", He said as he used his goggles and started tinkering with a broken watch. 

"Sigh...Lei...don't you have anything else to do besides hanging out with an old man like me?"

Lei stopped for a moment. Silence filled the room.

"I...don't know"
