Yuu ran, stumbling on the uneven ground. He heard the sound of footsteps and someone laughing behind him. The images of what he saw moments ago flashed before his eyes. His father lay on the ground in a puddle of blood his auburn hair stuck together with slick blood, his green eyes where lifeless staring right at Yuu, a tall boy— a teenager— with black hair grinned madly, staring down at his mother who was leaning against the wall with a giant bleeding gash in her stomach.
Yuu took a sharp left turn into a small alleyway then tuck himself into a hole in the wall that was hidden by the corner of a large garbage can.” where is he?” The teenager had spoken with a deadly calm voice. “I- I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Yuu’s mother replied her black eyes looking around the room for a way to escape her bright red hair that was always in a high ponytail hung loosely over her shoulders. “I said where is the reaper, I know he’s here,” he yelled back before slitting the woman’s throat.
Yuu squeezed his eyes closed trying to get the images out of his head, but they kept coming. Yuu squeaked in fear. At the sound, The grinning teen had spun around and Yuu saw his face. He realized that he was actually much younger than he looked he was probably still in middle school, seventh grade at most. But his presence and the fact that he was so tall made him seem much older than he really was.
Yuu ran, that’s when he noticed that the grinning boy wasn't alone. five or six grown men appeared in front of him blocking his path. Yuu ducked under the arm of one of them and ran as fast as he could. he
Yuu held his breath as the footsteps drew closer. A large figure emerged in front of the garbage can looking around Yuu sat there not moving an inch, he stayed like that even after the footsteps retreated. The night past but Yuu didn’t leave his hiding spot. As the sun came up and people started walking up and down the street busily. When the sun was at its peak and twelve o’clock bell had rung Yuu left the hole in the wall and walked back to the house.
Yuu stood there staring at his house, or what was left of it. There were police all around and yellow caution tape surrounded the burnt remains of his house. Yuu ran towards the ruble ducking under the tape, but a man in a police uniform stopped him. “You can’t come over here boy it’s dangerous.” the policeman spoke and seemed annoyed that he was talking to a four-year-old. “Where is my mom and dad,” Yuu spoke with tears in his eyes. The policeman's startled at that. “Was this your house?” he asked as he pointed at the blackened wood of the house trying to figure out what had happened. Yuu nodded than looked back at the pile. “I’m sorry but.. your parents are dead.” Yuu stared wide-eyed at the man in front of him and then started crying. His arms hung limply at his side, tears running down his face as he wailed.
Something caught Yuu’s eye and looked down it was a smear of blood on the ground. Yuu’s breath shallowed then quickened. He fell to the ground clutching his head and started screaming his black eyes wild with fear.
Son after Yuu was sent to an orphanage and was adopted by an elderly couple. He was also diagnosed with a severe blood phobia which made him hyperventilate at the sight of blood. The doctor also said that he probably will never get over the trauma of seeing his parents killed.
