Rex Onazuka began with watching a youtube video many years ago of a Giant Japanese Wasp Destroying an entire hive. I was just captivated by it and wanted to make a story around it.

The book was inspired by Kaiju Big Monsters, Andy Warhol, Cowboy BeBop, Fight Club, V for Vendetta , foreign cinema such as Diabolik, and many other sources. The main idea behind the book was what if there was a billionaire who had all these resources and still had the spirit of the '60s alive where anything and everything was possible at the time. His alter ego would protect people but also be something of a freedom fighter figure who does his best to right the wrongs of the world on a global scale through guerilla tactics.
Johann 'Ullcer' Leroux and I teamed up for this story and he did an amazing job on the illustrations and colors. You can find him here:

I also have New Brighton Archeological Society on Tapastic and Gladstone's School for World Conquerors will be appearing on Tapastic soon.
We loved working in this universe and would like to do more Rex Onazuka stories in the future if we can find a way to finance them, and buy some time out of Johann's schedule where he can be paid to work on them.
Thank you for reading! Please Subscribe! Be sure to check out our other projects. Enjoy!
Rex Onazuka is illustrated and colored by Johann 'Ullcer' Leroux and written by Mark Andrew Smith. There are two stories written. We're posting them up here for your reading pleasure. At some point, we'd both like to do more stories in this universe, but we'd have to get a big audience, and it would take some serious cash to pay Johann and open up a slot during his very busy paid schedule. The story was a lot of fun to to do and it's one of my favorite collaborations.
