I could hear them in the thicket; the wind rustling the autumn leaves could not mask their sound. Instead, it carried their musty scent towards me where I sat perched in the upper branches of an old oak tree. This was one of the last few chances I had to hunt before winter sets in, and food becomes scarce. They should be a decent size; it would be able to feed quite a few, but it still wouldn’t be enough. I didn’t have to wait long as she stepped out into the clearing. At least she wasn’t too skinny, but she wasn’t plump either. I had just notched my arrow ready to take down the white-tailed doe when an enormous crash sounded on the other side of the clearing. “What the hell,” muttering under my breath it let out a terrible roar. Orc. Nasty, brutish, and ugly creatures; always angry and always hungry. The doe’s scent is what attracted him here. I should have expected this since it was rut season. He didn't hesitate after crashing through the trees he continued his charge.

"No way in hell am I going to let you ruin a perfectly good meal.” As I moved my aim to the base of the orc's neck. It’s the quickest and most sure-fire way to kill an Orc. I released my arrow, barely missing my target the arrow embedded itself in a nearby tree. Luckily the brute took no notice of the slight breeze the shaft made as it flew by him. Orks have terrible sight and hearing, but they make up for it in smell. The doe had quickly dodged his rampage disappearing once again back into the thicket. “Well, there goes our meal. I guess I should take care of you, we don’t need you rampaging out here so close to the village,” I sighed notching another arrow. With my hunt ruined, I had to get rid of the brute or his rampage could turn toward the village. I steadied myself determined not to miss; inhaling, I focused once again on the base of the orc's neck. I exhaled on my release. At that moment he dropped with an enormous thud. The clearing was once again quiet. It still worried me though; because where there is one there are bound to be others.
