“There it is, there’s Rattlesnake Island!” I could hear my sister’s enthusiasm from the far back of the old rambler as my dad drove erratically down the freeway. Every time we went from The Dalles to Portland, which wasn’t very often, but every time anyway, we would never fail to look for what my dad called Rattlesnake Island.

Turns out that he didn’t really know the name of the island. Of course, there was no internet back then and the speed limit was still 55. I won’t mention the price of gas, you’ll just be jealous! Nevertheless, that island was always a mystery to me as a kid driving by. There was something about it….

Here are some facts about the island — I’m real disappointed that the islands’ actual name isn’t Rattlesnake Island, the real name was coined in 1934. We should’ve known better.

RATTLESNAKE ISLAND Web Novel INTRO

Written before by yours truly, within the past year, in fact, the previous name was ‘Olivia’s Obsession’ and I completed through chapter 3. The present version of the web novel will be expanded many more chapters and the first three chapters will be revised and with much more detail.

Why change the name of the web novel to Rattlesnake Island?

I don’t have a lot of good childhood memories but looking forward to seeing Rattlesnake Island on our few trips west was one of the good ones. I want to write a web novel that will bring back good memories and hopefully invoke good feelings in readers. Another reason for the change is because the main theme of the novel will not be Olivia after the first few chapters. Instead, the focus will be a facility deep underground, dedicated to world dominance by way of mind manipulation.

Rattlesnake Island is going to be a wild ride. I hope you’ll join me as the novel unfolds.
