Hey, my name is Sam, I'm turning 6 years old today! "Hey honey, get in the car!" Huh, that's strange, they've never called me that before. Whatever. I grabbed a bag and stuffed a bunch of snacks and some water into it, just in case I get hungry. Running through the house, I slammed the door on the way out and got in. My parents greeted me with slightly guilty smiles. I buckled my seat belt happily and bounced in my seat. "So, where are you taking me?" I questioned with excitement. "You'll see-when we get there." Mom's voice cracked in the middle of the sentence. The rest of the car ride was silent, besides the gentle hum of the engine. After around 30 minutes, we came to a stop in the middle of nowhere. I was really confused. "Follow us sweetie." Why are they calling me that?! I followed them to a stump next to a small pond under a huge sheltering tree. "Wait here, we'll be back soon." I watched them as their backs disappeared beyond the horizon. Welp, I guess I'll wait here. It was around 8:00 ish. My legs were sore from the walking and I was tired. What harm would a small nap do? I found a patch of soft grass and laid down, covering myself with my too-big jacket. Soon after, I fell asleep wondering when my parents would come back. But they never did.
