1.- Dreams Aren't Bad

1.- Dreams Aren't Bad

Aug 07, 2024

Deimos looks through the window of his school, hearing the marginal of Rain screaming at him which are the answers that will appear in the test as he pins him against a locker. Deimos may be smart, but that doesn't means he knows something confidential, as it is the last exam of history and geography of the year. The bell rings, and the face that Rain puts was priceless. Until Deimos got hit in the jaw, perhaps his face was now the priceless one?

"Listen you damn piece of shit, your gonna say to me the damn answers or I'll swear I'll fucking break your arm after school." Rain whispers to him, holding him against the locker strongly, his hands around Deimos' throat begin to choke him. The two guys behind Rain chuckle as they look to both sides of the hall, watching out for any teacher.

Deimos nods rapidly after the fingers begin to tear his skin. "I'- I'll tell you." He stutters as he weakly tried to push Rain away by the chest.

After what seemed to be longer than five minutes, Deimos talked nonsense to Rain, while this one listened focused, and even started to write some of the largest information on his wrist and hand. After that, he let go.

'God, I can't believe that idiot really believed all that shit... I think I even said that Russia was part of the African continent and that Poland started the second war.' Deimos thought, the three guys walked away from the hall, while he is still trying to catch his breath, sobbing his neck and feeling the wounded skin on the process.

He goes to the classroom, the teacher lectures everyone and almost gives Deimos a slap in the back of the head for his lateness.

The hardest tests are already over, so why is he so nervous? History is only memory, he could answer all the questions in a couple of minutes. What was he going to do in that dead time? Think about his future? Every time he thinks about that, there is a pain in his brain. What will he study in college? Will his parents allow him to go? Will they give him support?
All those thoughts were only in the moment of walking towards his seat, this was going to be the longest two hours of his life.

Was it really worth it? The second bell rings, he has to hurry. Time goes by too fast when you are lost in your thoughts. For some reason, he thought about answering randomly, but then questioned himself, why would he do that if he knew the answers? A long sigh, a long reading back and forth, and a long moment of exchanging answers between the two fat leaves.

 20 minutes left.

10 minutes later, he raises his head, looks to the side out of boredom, and sees how Rain has a smile on his face as he paints the A, then B, B, B... When the fourth B is on its way, the smile is gone, and Deimos' comes.

He moves his head and tries to ask the teacher if he could leave, saying that he already ended the test and revised it twice. But his lips couldn't open, this was a difficulty of his, talk with people. His stepmother tells him very often that there will always be someone who will look for him, even if he doesn't want to. But, where is that person? It's been a while already since he talked to someone to have a conversation without being an obligation of the school.
His father yells at him, he has to stop being a faggot and talk with people instead of waiting for someone to talk to him.

'I guess it is easier to say it than do it.' His eyes moved to the window again. 'I just want to get out of here. Maybe things will change if I leave, it doesn't matter if I leave alone. I... I'm going to escape this routine.'

The hour passed, and the bell rings again, announcing the exams are over.

He hears how some students screamed of happiness on the hall, not for the exams, but for the upcoming vacations. Everyone leaves at the minute the bell rang, except the marginal and rats that always are licking his ass. He knows something is going to happen, he limits himself to remain on his seat and look at them. Rain stands up and walks to him with a demonic look.

"You fucker! You know what my parents were gonna give me if I approved this fucking exam?! Now I won't leave this place till I turn 20!" Rain screams while kicking the chair, making Deimos fall.

Deimos gags at his blood, a twisting feeling up on his chest, back and neck, the little hairs all raising in panic. The voice in his head is whispering for him to run or to do something. But it didn't matter how loud or how reasoning it was, the fear always makes him paralyze. It was as if a speeding vehicle was in front of the line between him and the breaking point.

The marginal grabs him a second time and hits him in the nose, provoking a nose bleed. In a lost of strength, he drops Deimos, making the pale boy fall and hit his head against the iron foot of one of the desks. Rain panics a little, he might be an idiot but knows a hit like that might be dangerous. So he walks away along with his friends.

4, 16 minutes, perhaps? His eyes fixed after a long time, the feeling starts to make him choke, Deimos coughs, but something more wants to come out, so he runs to the trashcan and starts to throw up with some blood. His legs go weak and makes him fall.

The voice was faster than his brain, and begun whispering abominations onto the deep part of his brain, until it agreed.

He stands up, grabs his broken glasses, the falling blood from his chin staining them. He started to clench his teeth, making his veins show up. He raised his right hand and threw the glasses to the floor, half painted by his blood that won't stop coming out. With anger, he started to hit them repeatedly. His white hair, dyed with barely visible blood that he stained after trying to fix his hairstyle. Without saying a word he took a seat and waited for at least 15 minutes to all the students leave. In all that time he waited he only stared at his broken glasses, covered with blood.

When the time came, he decided to take a walk instead of the bus. For some reason, when he is passing in front of the most likely abandoned part of the walk, he looks to the side, his eyes catching on the fast stream of the lake, the railings rusty and falling by their own weight.

A vibration on his pants calls, he grabs his phone and sees a message from his dad, "Where the hell are you? Is Lizy with you? She took everything." He sighs at the message and tightens the grip on it, anger going through him as he read his stepmom left with his dad's belongings, and surely his.

His breathing became unbearable, what seemed to be automatic has been disconnected and blocked. The voice screamed further, and so, Deimos threw his phone into the lake with all his forces. 7 seconds later, somehow, he heard a thud, but didn't pay much attention to it.

His head started to hurt, it was probably because of the hit and nose bleed, but it's been a while since it occurred. What could it be? Without pushing further thought in something that was going to end, he kicks off one of the old railing and puts himself on the edge.

He stared at his hands, stained with his blood. The feeling on his body remained, the fear and further thought of death started to fill him. What if he regretted it on middle fall? What will come after his brain dies?

'Just do it!' He pushes himself from the edge, the cold breeze of the lake surrounding his wounded face, the sharpness of this one forcing his eyes down...

"Meow!" A robotic arm covered, on some parts only, in what seemed to be real cat fur. The colder and hard touch made Deimos open his eyes and look up. Only to see a robot out of a kid's nightmare, adult, even.

It is a machine three heads bigger than him. The robot's form was a humanoid one, yet it had a long tail and head of a cat, all the metal painted in blue, and those red eyes shinning along the sun. The whiskers are made out of wires, sharp and long wires that move in coordination with the machine's... breathing?

"AHHH!" Deimos screams of fear. He squirms on the machine's grip, but this only makes the creature tighten his hand around the flesh, the skin slowly and slowly being dripped off, the bones trying to fight off the strength. Seconds of useless struggling and making the situation worse, he started to be raised by the machine, having the whole sight of it made Deimos faint.

The robotic cat shakes Deimos in the air.

"You have to be more careful. This is the second time, God! If you hurt another target, we'll get in problems with the central! No, I will be getting in problems with them for not controlling you properly!"

A man covering his face with a black oni mask with golden teeth and eyes screamed to the robot, kicking its leg. He also has a black vest, with gloves and a card hanging from his breast with the name Eun. His voice is too sharp to be old, but his figure too strong to be young.

"Carry this guy and carefully put him in the van!" Eun pointed to the black van with the logo: Dal's Food, Wholesaler.

The robot moves clumsily, as if trying to keep Deimos from fainting more, Eun opens the door and the robot shoves Deimos inside, then gets in itself. It wasn't long until the van starts to move...

Creator

Heya. Felix or Zabij here. This is one of the first novels I have written. It is from 2022, released on 14th of february if I remember properly, here on Tapas then on Inkspired, the only place that still has saved the three first novels I did on the same year, all of them discontinued, except this one.

(If you went to search it... don't mention G.F. though it maybe come back too along with Insomnia)

This is a remake of the series, so if you go there you might see that I was not even able to write properly english since it is not my first lenguage. Neither it is of Chris LMAO 😭😿

Now, I am getting the help of my friend Chris to write this thing (he wrote 90 percent of it), if you know, you know, but if you don't, he is the artist of the "Poop Fridays" and banner of In the Pines. And also creator of the thumbnail and cover of this one. Struggling with art block, huh?

Fun facts about the original idea of the series: It had two original prologues. The launched one, and the first of all that I don't even have, because it is eliminated.

Originally, Deimos was called Elios, then Yohan, and finally, Yuda. And, he was first thought to be a 8 year old, and was already trapped on the site.
