Saving Sin

Hugs not Drugs

Hugs not Drugs

Dec 06, 2017

Sapphire switches off the light from the lab. The only sound that could be heard was the humming of the radiator. She locks the door and gets into her car. Old receipts crunch under her feet as she sets the GPS to direct her to Blue Moon. She knows the roads there like the back of her hand, but she likes the company, as simple as it is. Soon Blue Moon comes into view, just as classy as ever. The neon sign screams tacky, and the poorly blacked out windows tease of the debauchery inside. She enters the building, and the smell of alcohol and sex hits her like a freight train. Some things you just never can get used to. The bouncer sees her and smirks as he pulls back the velvet rope; Regulars don’t need ID.

The club was alive with the sultry bass of the stage’s song. Lioness was in some tribal bikini, but with the tone of the outfit and the reflection from the lights, it looked like she was wearing nothing at all. The swarm of 9-5er’s in the front row definitely would love to see that. Lioness spotted her in the crowd and winked at her, the men below her stealing it for themselves. Sapphire just ignored them and headed towards the VIP room.

“Sweet Tea for an hour please.” Sapphire handed the bouncer a wad of bills and strolled past him. Sweet Tea was lying on her stomach, pushing together her breasts and arching her back to accentuate her ass in her daisy dukes. Sapphire responds blandly. “I’m thinking war tonight.” Sweet Tea smiles at her and jumps into a normal seated position.

“Sounds good to me!”

Sapphire sits down at the edge of the bed and takes a deck of cards out of her bag and begins dealing. “You know, you don’t have to pretend that your going to dance for me every time I come here. It’s not like anyone's watching.”

“I know. But it’s fun to pretend. I’ll gets you one of these days.” She giggles and Sapphire raises an eyebrow. People don’t usually giggle when they say they want to seduce you.

Ignoring her comment, the two get on with war. Halfway through their game. Sweet Tea hesitates to place her card down, and she sets on down with a sigh. “There’s something I wanted to ask you.” Sapphire looks up from her hand, confused.

“Yeah. What’s up?”

“How much does it cost for your services.” Sapphire leans back on her hands, pondering the question. “Well, I don’t have a set rate. It usually depends on the person and how much they paid for the drug. If it’s some high class gang member with a lot of cocaine, it’s more expensive. But if it’s just some sad junkie who bought $5 pills off the street, I’m not gonna charge much. Why? Do you need something tested?"

“Yes, actually.” She pulls a baggie of small pills out of her bra.

“Okay...what are these?”

“That’s the problem. I don’t know. Mr. Sullivan gave them to me as a gift. I haven’t taken them like he asked me to. We’re not supposed to take anything illegal, so I was confused as to why he would break his own rule.”

“Did her tell you what they were? And did you ask anyone else if he had given them some?” She looks down bashfully.

“Well no but- I didn’t want mister S getting mad at me. I mean, what if it was a test of my loyalty? I would never want him to be disappointed in me.” She was gesticulating wildly, Sapphire grabs her hands in an effort to calm her down.

“Relax. I get it. I’ll test these first thing tomorrow morning. Okay?”

“Okay.”

They abandoned the game and laid next to each other in a tense yet comfortable silence. After the hour was up, Sapphire waved Sweet Tea goodbye and left with a pit in her stomach.

At home, Sapphire set the bag down on her kitchen counter. The small pills gave off such an eerie and domineering presence that she had to get them tested immediately. She snatched the pills off the counter and headed off to her lab. She tried to calm down the gnawing curiosity and fear by blasting some sugary pop music on the radio, but instead it rotted in her ears.

She unlocked her lab and turned on the light and her equipment. The roaring hum of the machine sounded like the echo of her heart beat. Thump. Thump. She put one of the pills in the machine, and she sat down on a nearby chair, running her nails up and down her arm, and tapping her foot at a breakneck pace. After a few minutes, a cute “ding” signaled the completion of the tests. She read over the data and noticed something that made her heart stop and her skin crawl. The tests found that the main component was Rohypnol.

A date rape drug.
