The town of Lunaria, was always a quiet one. Everyone came and went like the drifting sea; but still it was well known for its beach where the sea always seemed to have moonlight shining on it. Which is how most people thought how the town got its name, since no one was really sure.
Late one evening by the river that ran through the town, a fox stirred from his hole; it was rabbit hunting time. But something else caught his attention. A bird was sitting by the riverside. Easy prey since the bird didn't even notice him, getting ready to pounce the bird slowly turned his head around. They met eye to eye, the fox eyes widened and instead of pouncing he instead bowed his head low. For this was no prey.
"Ah! I require the longest ever bath in the history of BATHS!"
A loud feminine voice shouts and the fox gets startled by this and scurries away, the bird however hopped into a bush.
"You already take a long time as it is, besides you don't even have a bath!"
Another voice replies back but this time it was masculine.
"Ahh, details schmetails, Eric."
"I told you not to call me that!"
"Yeah well that one is easier to say...Ooooo the river always looks beautiful!"
A girl wearing a dark purple school uniform and had red hair appeared standing over the railing, "Breathtaking."
"Yeah it is." A boy stood next to her with short chocolate coloured hair wearing the same uniform as her.
"Never ceases to amaze me, but still," The girl raised her arms "BATH AWAITS!"
"Mai, you don't have a bath!"
"Oh shut up, I'm obviously gonna be using Luce's bath. DUH!" The red haired girl said while poking her tongue at the boy. "Speaking of Luce...Where did she go?"
"Hmm? She was with us a second ago."
The girl named Mai sighed "Lard Nammit, leave her alone for one minute. LUUUUCEEETTTE!" She shouted running back in the direction they came. Luckily she didn't even go far till she noticed long light brown hair "There you are. What are you doing?" She came to a stop beside her friend and peered at what the other one was looking at. The other girl moved her head, she had a pair of odd eyes; one purple and one a light blue. along with her long hair
"This bird has been staring at me..." Is all she said while casually pointing into a bush.
"A bird....Has been....Staring at you? Erm, what?"
"Take a look"
Mai made a disgruntled face and peered into the bush her friend was pointed at. Deep in the bush was indeed a bird, staring very intently. Though Mai couldn't help but notice the bird looked very sour faced.
"Well he's a very sour boy alright. How did you even notice him?"
Lucette turned her attention to her friend.
"I dunno, but I sorta sensed him?"
Mai narrowed her eyes, her friend was such a weirdo. "You sensed a bird......ok ANYWAY, I require the baths. So let's mosey, ignore sour faced birdo." She waved her hand at the bird to shoo him away, but he moved and bit her finger. Mai yanked her hand out of the bush "Owww! Darn thing bit me"
"Well you was waving your hand in his face"
"Yeah but that doesn't mean he had to bite it, darn thing might have rabies. Nasty thing..." Mai angrily said now kicking her feet in the air near the bush.
Lucette sighed and stood up, she placed a hand on her friends arm and dragged her away. "Let's look at that at my house."
They walked for a bit and managed to catch up to the boy Mai was with.
"Eros! Let's go" Lucette firmly said while still dragging her friend, the boy raised an eyebrow.
"Do I even want to know?"
"Don't trust a bird!" Mai stated while sticking her bitten finger in the air.
After a while the trio were standing outside a quaint cottage surrounded by trees with the ocean right behind it, Mai whistled,
"Damn. No matter how many times I come here, I am still amazed by this house. Your parents are still away?"
Lucette fumbled in her bag and pulled a keyset that had the planets on it, and inserted it in the lock.
"Yeah. In the letters they say they are going to be a while. Work stuff got them good" The door opened and she stepped in, Mai followed after.
"Letters? Y'know always been weird about that. It's the modern era, they have phones." She couldn't help but wonder out loud as they took their shoes off.
"Ah bad reception on the islands, they tried."
"Ah yeah, remember you saying. But still it's odd."
Mai got hit on the head and she looked up and saw the chocolate hair boy named Eros staring at her. "Quit asking questions you have asked many times before!" He stated as he walked past her.
"How rude..." She mumbled with her hands on her hips, Lucette stifled a laugh. "What's so funny?"
"Ah ha, nothing. But..." She moved and took Mai's hand in hers and inspected the finger that got bitten "It was barely a bite, more like a nibble. You will be fine."
"What? BUT I could die!!"
"Well the world be a quieter place." Eros bluntly pointed out popping his head out from a nearby room.
"Anyway. Cookies or muffins?"
"Hang on a sodding minute, what did you mean by that?" She strode up to the door.
"Ah, so a cookie day. Gotcha" He made an ok sign with his fingers and retreated back into the room, with the door shutting on Mai's face.
"Hey don't ignore me, get back here!" She barged into the room he went in, and Lucette could make out muffled voices; she merely rubbed her temple and walked past the door. It was a common thing in their little circle of three, she ended up walking past a picture of the three of them last summer. Lucette adored the both of them since really they only had each other, at their school they were considered 'outsiders'. Mai was loud, did strange things and sometimes even said strange things. Eros on other hand, people regarded him being cold, unfriendly and somehow a delinquent.
Lucette on the other hand, was in most sense of the word, new. On her first day of school, which was a year ago, just before summer, she ended up meeting someone. Sadly, the wrong person was the most popular girl at school, who, even before she went to the school, spread odd rumours about her. Lucette never knew why she did it, but even on her first day, no one really said hello. It wasn't until she had the encounter with Eros at the library where she met her two greatest friends. Somehow she managed to trip over his legs as he sat and read a book. Mai was even nearby, and miraculously they became fast friends, though Mai said the reason might be because they were all considered 'outsiders' at school. Lucette grinned from ear to ear as she looked at the photo again, it was a fantastic summer and she wished this year's summer would be fantastic. Though it was still early spring.
A loud bang sounded from the room her two friends were in and Mai stormed out
"What was that?" She asked her, as the red haired girl walked past her.
"Ah, what? The banging sound? Ah just a pan hitting a rock nothing to see. Anyway" She pointed to the stairs, "BATH AWAITS!" And mooched her way up the stairs, Lucette shook her head and headed towards the room Mai just came out from. Opening it a little she saw Eros standing by the counter holding a pan. "You ok?"
He looked at her with his bluish purple eyes and smiled "Nah just had a run in with Godzilla."
Lucette chuckled, "Can't wait for those cookies, I'll be upstairs." She smiled at him again and shut the door.
"YO! YOU GOT THIS NEW VANILLA SCENT. SWEET!"
Lucette overheard Mai shouting from the upstairs bathroom.
"OH NO WAIT. WAS IT EXPENSIVE! AHH NO!"
Shaking her head, she walked up the stairs, on the landing to the right she could see Mai flailing her arms in the air.
"I hope it wasn't expensive. I may have dropped the bottle and..." She held up the bottle and indeed what used to be a full bottle was now half full. Mai looked a bit sheepish and Lucette just smiled and laughed.
"Ah ha no. Weren't that expensive"
The amount of relief that was shown on Mai's face was astounding, "Ah. Fabulous!" She gave her friend a peace sign as she walked back into the bathroom and closed the door. Mai was indeed something else. Lucette smiled sweetly at the bathroom door and carried on to her bedroom. Her room overlooked the ocean, she made sure she got that room since it was the only one with a balcony and was fantastic when it came to seeing the stars. The inside of her room was spacious, her white four poster bed was placed opposite the balcony doors. Two large creamy white wardrobes were placed either side of the doors, and a purple sofa was lined up on the far side wall, with a dresser near the door. Lucette laid on her stomach along her bed and waited for her friends to officially finish their business.
"Hey, no napping!"
A voice calls out to her and she gets a whiff of vanilla up her nose, peering up from her face in her sheets she's met with a body wrapped in a towel.
"Ah you're done."
"Yah. Of course, then I catch you sleeping. Though mind you with your PANTIES on display!"
"Panties, underwear, ladies undergarments."
"Huh?" Lucette looked back and very much so her skirt was lifted up so much her black underwear was on show. "Oh my god!" She scrambled and flattened her skirt down.
"Just be glad I found you like that, and not King Kong downstairs....Though..." Mai placed a hand her chin "Though he probably would like the show....Though not like he would do anything.." She made a disgruntled annoyed face.
"Err do what?"
"Ah nothing!" She waved her hand in the air to try and shoo the conversation off the topic. "Imma gonna go and change." Lucette watched her as her friend grabbed a pile of clothing from the sofa and walked back out the door. "Why are you walking around in a towel?" Her ears perked up at the new voice. "New fashion statement. Sexy right?" "As sexy as a piece of poo." "Ah, you just wish you were this sexy!" "Uh huh..." "And I'm taking one of these now!" Shortly after her door opened and Eros stood there carrying a plate of freshly baked cookies. "Ah, they're done?" Lucette's face perked up, she loved his cooking. "Yep, though..." He looked a bit disgruntled. "Someone had first dibs." Lucette laughed and hopped off the bed. "Typical..." Eros smiled at her and placed the plate on her dresser. She took one of the cookies and bit a small piece off, they were soft but ever so tasty. Eros was a mastermind cook of sweets, though normal food like dinner and lunch he was so very bad at. Shortly after, the door burst open.
"HONEY, I'M HOME!"
Mai had made herself known again, Eros rolled his eyes and sat on the floor with his back facing the bed.
"What no applause? Shameful, anyway weren't you bathing too?" She turned her attention to Lucette, who was still nibbling on cookies.
"Huh? Oh. Yeah." She retreated to one of her wardrobes, pulled something out and scurried off out the room, leaving Mai and Eros in her bedroom. It was quiet in the room for a few moments before Mai said something.
"Y'know. Waiting for her to say something probably won't happen."
Eros turned his head at the red head. "Meaning?"
"Meaning..." She strode over to the balcony doors and peered through the window. She couldn't help but notice a fat pigeon staring at her, poking her tongue out at it, she turned around and walked back. "We've known her long enough, she won't notice anything if you don't say anything." She hopped and laid on the bed and poked Eros' head with her finger. "So, why haven't you?"
He shook her finger off and moved to get up. "I have absolutely no idea what you're on about."
"Oh for the love of..." She rested her hands under her face. "Acting like that, you're gonna miss your chance, and someone's gonna....Swoop in."
Eros stared at her and she just grinned at him before rolling onto her back. "But who am I to judge what you do and don't do, and don't make that face. Remember who you are dealing with." She pointed at him while upside down. "I'm the mastermind of reading the male species and I know for a fact you..."
"Ok. Geez, enough!"
Mai grinned a little, and rolled back on her stomach; she knew she won.
"Oh I say errr...forever?"
"It's taken you this long to say it?"
Mai raised an eyebrow. "In all honesty, I thought you would have said something by now, but alas nope." A small light bulb lit up in her mind. "Just thought of something!" She sat up cross legged. "Imagine this, you say you wanna go watch the night sky with her right? Marvelous idea yes, bonus points for Mai. I make myself go somewhere and BOOM your chance. You can't mess that up!"
Mai narrowed her eyes. "Because if you don't do it now, I'm probably gonna hit you!"
Eros folded his arms "Says the one who hasn't dated before.."
Mai just waved him off, "I prefer to watch, less hassle." Her ears perked up as she heard a door open. "Ah excellent, your chance!"
The bedroom door clicked open and Lucette entered the room, she was wearing her usual lounge clothes of a t-shirt and shorts. "Am I interrupting something?"
"Totally not! Besides.." She did a side glance at Eros "I'm gonna go and get a drink, so back soon!" She waved them bye as she went back out the door.
"Erm. Ok?" She turned her attention to the only one left in the room and he looked off. "You ok?"
"Me? I'm fine.." He took a glance at her balcony doors. "Care to join me outside while we wait for her?" He gestured to the balcony.
"Hmm? Oh yes! I was actually admiring the sky through my bathroom window, though not as well.." She strode straight past him and opened the doors. Even though it was early Spring, it wasn't really that cold. Eros followed after her and looked at her back as she was gazing out at the sky, his hand hovered like he was gonna touch her, but he decided not too and sat down on her wicker sofa.
"The sky, the stars, even space itself never ceases to amaze me. I mean there's one there, and there and, ah, right there!"
Eros chuckled to himself. "I forget sometimes you really love that stuff."
She turned around and her eyes lit up. "Not just love, I mean adore everything. The planets too, they're all so ...." She turned back around. "Beautiful!"
"Yeah, she is..."
"Hmm?" She looked to her side and Eros had moved to her side and just stared at her. "Thank you for agreeing with me." She moved her head back and gazed back at the sky. He could not help but roll his eyes.
"Oh! Wait. What?"
Her small outburst made him jump. "What?"
"That's a shooting star. Ahh!" She looked at him as she pointed to what indeed was something moving across the sky, though he couldn't help but notice it looked 'odd'. "You sure, cause why is it coming towards us?"
