*EXT. EERIE ROAD TO ELYSIUM - NIGHT*

**A thick fog blankets the winding road leading into the town of Elysium. The occasional glow of a street lamp cuts through the mist, revealing a sign that reads “Welcome to Elysium.”**

*ELARA BLACKWOOD (late 20s, determined journalist) drives her sleek SUV cautiously. Her eyes scan the fog-enshrouded landscape with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.*

ELARA : (to herself)  

If I can solve this mystery, maybe I can finally find out what happened to my brother.

**She adjusts the rearview mirror, her reflection showing both determination and fatigue.**

ELARA :  (voiceover)  

The disappearances in this town are more than just strange. They’re connected. And I’m going to find out how.

**The SUV approaches the town, its headlights briefly illuminating the faded welcome sign before fading back into the mist.**

Arrival and First Impressions

*INT. ELYSIUM INN -> LOBBY - NIGHT*

*The lobby of the inn is quaint but has an old-world charm. The wooden counter is adorned with dusty antique decorations. The INNKEEPER (elderly woman with a knowing smile) stands behind the counter.*

INNKEEPER :  (with a hint of hesitation)  

Welcome to Elysium. I trust you’ve had a smooth journey?

ELARA :

Yes, thank you. I’ve heard a lot about this town. It’s... quite picturesque.

*The innkeeper’s smile fades slightly.*

INNKEEPER : 

Indeed. It’s a beautiful place. Just remember, some places are better left unexplored. 

ELARA :  (smiling)  

I’m here to uncover the truth. I don’t intend to leave until I’ve found it.

**The innkeeper hands over the key with a wary glance.**

INNKEEPER :

Very well. Here’s your key. Room 204. 

The Warning

*INT. ELYSIUM DINER - NIGHT*

*The diner is dimly lit and nearly empty. The WAITER places a cup of coffee on Elara’s table as she sits down, her notebook open.*

ELARA :  (to the waiter)  

I’m looking for some local insight. Do you know anything about the recent disappearances?

WAITER :   (looking uncomfortable)  

I don’t talk about such things. Folks around here prefer to keep to themselves.

*A man in his early 30s, LUCIEN GRAVES, brooding and mysterious, watches Elara from a corner booth. He stands up and approaches her.*

LUCIEN :  (coolly)  

You shouldn’t be here.

ELARA :  (surprised)  

And you are?

LUCIEN :  (serious)  

Lucien Graves. I know what you’re looking for, and I advise you to leave while you still can. This town is... dangerous.

ELARA :  (skeptical)  

I appreciate the warning, but I’m here to find out what’s really going on. I can’t just walk away now.

LUCIEN :  (firmly)  

You don’t understand. It’s not just about finding answers. It’s about surviving.

**As Lucien speaks, the lights flicker and go out, plunging the diner into darkness. A cold draft sweeps through, and the patrons murmur in confusion.**

ELARA :  (stunned)

**Lucien turns abruptly and exits the diner, leaving Elara more intrigued than ever.**

The Cryptic Journal

*Elara is unpacking her belongings when she finds an old, dusty journal hidden in the drawer of the nightstand. The leather cover is worn and adorned with faded symbols.*

ELARA :  (to herself)  

What’s this?

*She opens the journal and begins to read. The entries are written in a hurried, trembling hand.*

**JOURNAL ENTRY**  

(voiceover, from the journal)  

“The figure I saw tonight was unmistakable. A ghostly man with eyes like dying embers. He seemed to be watching me, waiting. I fear I am not alone.”

*Elara’s eyes widen as she reads further.*

**JOURNAL ENTRY**  

(voiceover, from the journal)  

“I have seen him in my dreams and waking hours. He matches the description of Lucien Graves, who warned me to leave. I do not know if it is a trick or a curse, but I must leave before it is too late.”

*Elara looks up from the journal, her heart racing.*

ELARA :  (whispering)  

This can’t be a coincidence. Lucien... it’s like he’s been here before.

Investigation Begins

*INT. ELYSIUM LIBRARY - DAY*

*Elara browses through dusty archives and old newspapers. The library is filled with musty books and an air of neglect.*

ELARA :  (to the LIBRARIAN)  

I’m researching the history of this town and the recent disappearances. Can you help me find relevant records?

LIBRARIAN :  (reluctantly)  

Most of the records are public, but some have been... misplaced. What exactly are you looking for?

ELARA :  

I need anything related to previous investigations and missing persons.

The librarian points to a row of old files and newspapers. Elara begins to sift through them.

ELARA :  (reading aloud)  

“Unexplained disappearances, strange occurrences... These reports are all the same. No clear answers, only vague warnings.”

**She discovers a pattern: investigators and residents who vanished under mysterious circumstances.**

ELARA :  (to herself)  

There’s something more to this town. I need to find out what.

Lucien’s Secrets

*EXT. SECLUDED PARK IN ELYSIUM - DUSK*

*Elara searches for Lucien in the park, where shadows cast eerie patterns. The park is eerily quiet, with only the rustling of leaves.*

ELARA :  (calling out)  

Lucien! I need to talk to you.

*Lucien emerges from the shadows, his expression a mix of frustration and resignation.*

LUCIEN :  (angrily)  

I told you to leave. I can’t help you if you refuse to listen.

ELARA :  (determined)  

I’m not leaving until I understand what’s happening here. If you know something, you need to tell me.

LUCIEN :  (sighs)  

Alright. The truth is, I’m bound to this town by a curse. I’ve been trapped here, forced to witness the suffering and the disappearances.

ELARA :  (confused)  

A curse? What kind of curse?

LUCIEN ;  (somberly)  

A powerful one. It keeps me here, tied to the darkness that plagues Elysium. My warnings were meant to protect you, but I can’t break free.

ELARA :  (puzzled)  

Then why warn me if you’re powerless to stop it?

LUCIEN :  (bitterly)  

Because sometimes, knowing the truth can be a form of protection. But in this town, even that might not be enough.

A Haunting Revelation

*INT. ELYSIUM INN -> ELARA’S ROOM - NIGHT*

*Elara is in her room, unable to sleep. The journal lies open on the table, and the room is dimly lit by a flickering lamp.*

ELARA :   (to herself)  

The journal and Lucien’s warnings... they’re connected. There has to be something more.

**Suddenly, the room grows colder. Elara shivers as the lights flicker and the whispers of a ghostly presence fill the air. Her reflection in the mirror appears distorted and menacing.**

ELARA :  (whispering)  

What is happening?

**She notices that the reflection in the mirror starts to shift, showing glimpses of the ghostly figure described in the journal.**

ELARA :  (alarmed)  

No... this can’t be real.

 Confrontation and Revelation

*EXT. ABANDONED MANSION - NIGHT*

*Elara follows Lucien’s trail to an old, abandoned mansion on the edge of town. The mansion is covered in ivy, with broken windows and a foreboding atmosphere.*

ELARA :  (entering cautiously)  

Lucien? Are you here?

*Lucien stands in the center of a dusty room, performing a strange ritual. Candles flicker around him, casting eerie shadows.*

LUCIEN :   (startled)  

You shouldn’t be here. It’s dangerous.

ELARA :  (defiantly)  

I need answers. What’s this ritual about?

LUCIEN :   (somberly)  

I’m bound by a curse, as I’ve told you. This ritual is my only way to keep the darkness at bay, but it’s not enough. The curse is too powerful.

ELARA :  (desperate)  

How can we break it? How can we get out of here?

LUCIEN :  (resigned)  

I don’t know if we can. The forces at work are beyond our control. My warnings were meant to protect you, but I fear it might be too late.

**The mansion’s doors slam shut with a loud bang. An oppressive, malevolent presence fills the air, and the temperature drops drastically.**

ELARA :  (panicking)  

We’re trapped!

LUCIEN :  (fearful)  

We have to find a way out. The curse is closing in.
