“Come along now. I need a new mirror now! We wouldn’t need to go anywhere if you hadn’t shattered the previous one.” My mom tugged at my arm and pain shot through it. My health bar popped up.

“Mom!” I cried. “Control your strength! I haven’t gotten my class or power yet! Remember?!?!?!” Mom sighed. “Right…You’re a late bloomer. You know, your brother was a year early choosing his class and receiving his unique power. You, my dear, are a year late.” I tuned out my mom as soon as my brother popped up in her words. She always does this, I thought. Comparing me to my brother. We are two different people. I dragged my feet on my way to the car. “Hurry up!” She whined. “You know I can’t live without my mirror!” I went slower. When I finally did arrive at the car, she was glaring at me through the rearview mirror. I buckled even slower. She skidded out of the driveway before the click of the seat belt was heard. The mirror store was made out of glass and you could see everyone and everything inside of it. There were thousands of mirrors with shimmering surfaces. I dragged my feet on the way in as well. My mom scanned the store and reached into her purse. Out came a diamond studded wallet and $20. “Here, go and buy the best, most shimmery compact mirror you can.” She pulled out another bill, this one $100. “For me of course,” she stated like it wasn’t obvious. “Okay,” I said, but in my head I added your majesty with a buttload of sarcasm. I snatched the money and sprinted across the store, eager to get away from my mom and her mental grasp. I zig-zagged through the store, turning left, then right, then running straight. Soon I reached the opposite side from my mom and stopped. “Compact mirror,” I mumbled. “She already has one. I didn’t break that one. She doesn’t need more than one.” I swerved away from the compact mirror aisle and ended up in a medium mirror section. They looked like the ones you would find above a bathroom sink. I wandered down the aisle. In a matter of seconds, I was blinded by the light shining off of the gold and diamond frames and perfectly polished surfaces. There was only one mirror that wasn’t gold and unnecessary.
