Signs of Change

Hey guys! I’ll be going by Amaryllis on here to keep my privacy for now, and as you can see, this is my new story, Signs of Change. I’ve read far too many novels on here than can be good for a person, and have decided to share a story that has been on my mind for a long time now although I’ve always been too frightened to share it. Signs of Change is centred around our main character Jacob Wright, and his journey through all the trials and tribulations of his life.

This story is going to be gritty, and there are going to be times where you hate both me for writing it, and the characters involved. There are no good or bad guys in this story, the world is not black and white, and everything falls into some shade of grey. Just remember that everything that happens leads to the desired destination. As of right now I plan on marking every chapter as mature just to cover myself, but should there be anything that could be triggering I will put a warning at the start of the chapter and give a brief summary for anyone who wishes to skip out on the worst parts. These will include sexual content, drug and alcohol use, mentions of abuse, self harm, and the odd bit of violence. As I mentioned, this story will be gritty. Our boy and his friends also have potty mouths, sorry in advance!

Now after that slightly gloomy chapter, I wanted to add that as much as there will be hardship, there will also be a lot of fun moments too, including many cute moments between not only our main couple, but the multitude of characters around them. There will be characters from all different sexualities and walks of life, but if I ever put across something that seems wrong or upsets anyone, please let me know so I can fix it, I’m always happy to learn about things I maybe don’t fully understand.

I would also like to add that I am from the United Kingdom, so my writing may reflect that. I know American British can be slightly different from ours and if anything is ever confusing, don’t hesitate to ask.

My plan so far is to update at least once a week, more if I have the time, but I also have to be very aware of my mental and physical health as I suffer with a few different issues which can cause typing to be both painful and stressful. I will make sure to keep everyone updated on if anything has to change with my upload schedule.

Anyway, enough of my rambling as I’m sure you’re sick of reading it now, so I’ll get on with the story, I hope you enjoy!

How do you keep moving forward when life keeps crashing down around you? Do you sink, or do you swim? Jacob Wright is floating, trying to hold it all together, dragging the chains of his past along with him. Moving to Canada with his best friend seemed like a great idea as a teenager, but now being stuck in a country he doesn't know, with few people who truly know him seems like a nightmare. Moving home isn't an option, so he has to rely on people he never thought he would. Sometimes it takes truly losing it all to realise who you are, where you stand, and who is truly with you. The only question is, is it too late to change, or will the past always haunt him?
