To combat these creatures, to survive, the people of Aella Earth gradually embarked on the path of class changing.
They hunted otherworldly creatures to gain experience and equipment, constantly strengthening themselves.
Professions were divided into three categories: Combat, Support, and Life.
Combat Professions, as the name implied, were responsible for fighting and were the most promising. They included mages, summoners, swordsmen, assassins, beast warriors, and more.
Support Professions were similar to healers in games, possessing little combat power and primarily focused on restoring their teammates' status.
Life Professions were more diverse, encompassing farmers, blacksmiths, cooks, and so on.
Class changing was the most crucial step in a person's life. The profession one received determined their future career.
Those who obtained Combat or Support Professions could enter secret realms to hunt otherworldly creatures, leading thrilling and exciting lives.
Those who received Life Professions, however, were essentially relegated to the bottom rung of society.
All the students, including Soren, hoped to obtain a good profession.
But class changing was random; what profession one received was left to fate.
…
After the first group finished, the second group followed closely.
“Rhys Crowe, Combat Profession: Iron Fist Brawler.”
“Miles Bennett, Life Profession: Musician.”
Seeing three students receive Combat Professions, the grim expression on Lysander Longwind's face finally eased slightly.
“Haha, I got a Combat Profession!” Wyatt Howell grinned, striding back to his place.
The surrounding students cast envious glances at him.
Shield Warrior wasn't considered a particularly powerful Combat Profession, but it was highly sought after.
Their primary role was to protect their teammates.
Therefore, when forming teams, everyone would eagerly invite Shield Warriors to join.
Wyatt, beaming, walked up to Soren and raised an eyebrow. “Not bad, huh?”
“Pretty good,” Soren affirmed.
Shield Warrior was a popular profession and suited someone like Wyatt, who was built like a tank.
“Your turn next, good luck!” Wyatt encouraged.
Soren nodded, appearing calm, but inwardly, he was extremely nervous.
“Why a musician? I'm a six-foot-something guy, and you want me to play the lute? Where's the justice?” Miles Bennett muttered despondently.
“Isn’t musician better than fisherman? Look on the bright side,” Charles Kent consoled him with a smile.
Miles turned to Charles, puzzled. “How can you be smiling?”
Hadn't Charles received the farmer profession?
Farmers, to put it bluntly, were field laborers, the absolute bottom of society.
Shouldn't he be crying? Why was he smiling?
Charles shrugged. “You wouldn't understand.”
Becoming a farmer meant a peaceful life of tilling the land, without the need to enter dangerous secret realms and fight.
While it might not be a thrilling life, at least his life wouldn't be at risk.
“Cryptic bastard!” Miles snorted, ignoring him and continuing to wallow in his misery.
“Whoa! Combat Profession: Beast Warrior!”
“As expected of Christian Shaw, so awesome!”
The third group finished, and a wave of astonishment swept through the training grounds.
Beast Warrior was a powerful Combat Profession, with the primary ability to transform into beasts for combat.
Especially at lower levels, their combat power far surpassed other Combat Professions.
“Excellent!” Lysander Longwind beamed, his face glowing with satisfaction.
Basking in the envious murmurs, Christian Shaw strutted back to the ranks, brimming with pride.
“It's just Beast Warrior, what's there to brag about?” Wyatt muttered, watching Christian’s swagger.
Christian, relying on his prominent family background, always acted aloof and superior, which Wyatt had long found irritating.
“The fourth group to participate in the class change: Autumn Montgomery, Xavier Cartwright…”
“The school beauty is up!”
At the mention of Autumn Montgomery’s name, all the students perked up.
Autumn Montgomery was graceful, with delicate features, like an elf.
Her appearance drew the attention of many.
“Lewis Harrington, Life Profession: Chef.”
“Xavier Cartwright, Life Profession: Mechanic.”
“Daniel Sterling, Combat Profession: Swordsman.”
…
“Autumn Montgomery, Combat Profession: Ice Mage.”
“Autumn Montgomery is too strong!”
The crowd erupted in a flurry of exclamations.
Mages were already the highest damage dealers among Combat Professions, and Ice Mages were the cream of the crop, possessing not only damage but also control abilities.
At lower levels, a mage's combat power might not match a Beast Warrior.
But their potential far exceeded that of a Beast Warrior.
Once they grew stronger, their combat power would leave Beast Warriors in the dust.
A single skill rotation could instantly kill a Beast Warrior of the same level.
“Excellent!” Lysander Longwind’s face flushed with excitement, and he let out a hearty laugh.
“She’s truly my goddess! I swear I’ll marry Autumn Montgomery one day!” Charles Kent clenched his fists, declaring with conviction.
“You’re a farmer, and you look like a troll. Autumn Montgomery would never look at you. Don't be a toad lusting after a swan!” Liam Strong mocked mercilessly.
“Damn it! Who says a farmer can’t have dreams?” Charles Kent ground his teeth in anger.
“The next group for class change: Soren Hawthorne, Leo Lyons…”
Hearing his name, Soren took a deep breath and strode towards the Class Change Tower.
