Dragging my sorry self out of a convenience store, I felt like a joke without a punchline. My hair was white, my eyes were white, and my face? Let's just say it looked like someone inflated a balloon and drew a sad face on it. Yup, that's me in a nutshell.
Then, bam! I hit the floor like a sack of potatoes. Was it a heart attack? Nah, didn't feel like it. Was I poisoned, stabbed, shot? Nah, couldn't be bothered. Everyone who had a bone to pick with me had already done their damage long ago.
Suddenly, I'm in this freaky white space, floating around like a ghost. Is this what happens when you kick the bucket?
"Ah, you couldn't turn your life around... sad, huh?"
A voice cuts through the void, making me jump. "Reincarnate, huh?"
Reincarnation? That's some crazy stuff, but here I am, talking to the big man upstairs. Or wherever.
"Who are you? Where are you?" I shout, feeling like I'm talking to a brick wall.
Then, a cold hand grabs me, and I'm staring at... him? A naked old dude with white hair and eyes like he's seen a ghost.
"Call me God. Or whatever. But I'm Terminus," he says.
Apparently, he looks like whoever you miss most. And he's a dead ringer for my old man. Weird, right?
"So, reincarnation. What's the deal?" I ask.
He shuts me up real quick. "No more talking. We're doing this telepathically."
And just like that, he lays it out for me. Stay dead or come back as a hero. Piece of cake.
"Hell yeah!" I yell, and Terminus cracks a smile. It's kinda sad, kinda familiar.
Next thing I know, I'm disappearing into thin air.
New world, here comes trouble.
The sensation of being sucked into a vortex was like being on a rollercoaster from hell. My body twisted and turned until finally, I landed with a thud.
I blinked, disoriented, as my surroundings came into focus. I was standing in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but grass as far as the eye could see.
"Welcome to your new home, Nash," Terminus said in my head. "Or should I say, welcome to your new world."
I frowned, trying to make sense of it all. "So, I'm really... reincarnated?"
"Yes, indeed," Terminus replied, his voice echoing in my head. "But you've got work to do."
I swallowed hard. "What do I have to do?"
"Just save the world, defeat evil, and maybe make a name for yourself," Terminus said casually.
"That's it?" I exclaimed, stunned.
"That's it," Terminus confirmed.
With that, the connection severed, leaving me alone in the unknown. I took a deep breath, ready for whatever came my way.
Days turned into weeks, and I learned a lot of stuff along the way. I met friends and enemies, got stronger, and stuff.
As time went on, I got better at magic and stuff. But I never forgot why I was doing this.
With my friends by my side, I was ready for whatever came next.
And rise I would, for the people I loved, and for the world that had become my home.
