Spirits of the Black Cycles

The Fading Song

The Fading Song

May 02, 2025

“The spirit of wind sings in silence,
fire dances without fear,
earth breathes in memory,
and water—whispers time…”

“We are not flesh nor thought,
we are strings on a great harp
that the world plays…”

“…until it breaks.”

So began the old Song — a hymn of harmony that bound spirit and matter.
It resonated in everything: in the breath of the forest, in the rustle of ash, in the heart of every shaman who could still hear the Resonance.

But with time, the world changed.

Humans lost the hearing.
And the spirits — their trust.
And so, the Song began to fade.

⸻

Once, there were the Keepers of the Resonance — the Chosen,
those who could not only hear but respond to the Song.
They upheld balance between the elements and the currents of life.
There were four of them: one for each Element.
And a Fifth — the one who united them all.

But then came the Fracture.

Spirits and humans — no longer equal.
The world split in two — and the Resonance became a scar, not a bond.
Most shamans lost their power.
Those who remained either vanished or went mad.

Only the Legend remained.
And silence.

⸻

Tarion was born after the Fracture — in the age of forgetting.
His village, hidden among cliffs and mists, had no name.
His father vanished on the northern border.
His mother died of a dark illness.
He grew up among the ruins of ancient statues and fragments of words no one spoke anymore.

But there was something different about him.

When he touched the ground — it seemed to breathe.
When he looked into water — he heard whispers.
When he slept — the dreams were not his own.

And on the night when the moon turned black, he heard it.

“Tarion…”
“Can you hear?”
“You are the last who can answer…”

⸻

He woke with a jolt, like from a blow.
The air was cold, but his back was burning.
His heart beat not in his chest — but deeper,
somewhere in the very soul of the world.

Before him, through the wind, a figure emerged.
Tall, cloaked in shadow.
Its face wore a broken mask, carved with a symbol — a circle torn through the center.

“You are not just a man, Tarion,” the voice said.
“You are the last bearer of the Resonance.
And the world needs you — while there is still something left to save.”

⸻

And somewhere far away,
beyond mountains, beyond waters and time,
the Song of the worlds stirred once more.
Quiet. Almost imperceptible.
But alive.

“…for the world shall not end in fire…”
“…it shall fade.”

In a world where ancient spirits once danced in harmony with human hearts, the balance of magic has shattered. The Resonance — the thread that binds soul to soul — is fading. Darkness creeps through forgotten paths, and a secret Order seeks to erase all memory of what once was.

Taryon, a young seeker burdened by his father’s disappearance and haunted by dreams of a burning future, must confront the truth behind the Black Cycles — mysterious echoes of power, grief, and rebirth. Alongside the fierce Laïna and the enigmatic shamaness Maili, he walks paths forgotten by time, through forests that whisper and flames that remember.

But when every memory becomes a battlefield, can the heart still choose light?
