Take the second star to the right and straight on till morning. That’s how you get to my home with Peter. Peter and Jimmy, the new Lost Boy, and I reached the hideout in Neverwood Forest; the old tree was twisted and mangled from all that had occurred underneath its deep roots. Windows were freshly cut and everything from the last night’s events had been cleaned up. “Tink, can you unlatch everything for us?” Peter asked; doing anything for my best friend, I flew inside and unlocked the hideout. As the boys came inside, I decided to fly next to Peter. “We’re gonna have so much fun together!” my bell appearing voice chimed in. “That’s right Tink! She says it’ll be a real party! & you know what the best part is? You’ll never have to grow up either!” Jimmy’s eyes shone like stars as Peter’s infectious excitement invaded his small body. “Really; oh thank you Peter!” my glow brightened up in excitement, knowing what would happen; it always happened. The boys would suddenly vanish and Peter and I just decided that Captain Hook kidnapped them, but we know better. Sometimes, I feel conflicted; yeah we kidnap kids, but the as soon as the parents close the window, we can keep them. Those are the rules. Peter’s smile on his face showed hints of something that the boy took for an older brother’s mischief. “Wanna see an Indian tribe? Or maybe fight some pirates? Or how about visit some mermaids?” the boy thought for a moment. “Can we do them all!?!” Peter put his arm around the young boy’s shoulder; his smile almost gave something away. “I knew you’d be a perfect Lost Boy! Tink, if you could use some Pixie Dust for him!” bells ringing in accordance to my voice, I flew circles around Jimmy as he rose to the air once more. “Yeah, there you go Jimmy!” Peter shouted, shooting a quick smirk at me. “You might be a better flyer than me.” He said, voice getting deeper.
I flew back to Jimmy’s house, checking on his family; sure enough, the window was sealed up tight. I used all possible power to get me back to Neverland to tell Peter of my finding. “Alright Tink; he’s ours now.” It was unavoidable at this point; Jimmy was never going to go back home. Jimmy was gone the moment he accepted Peter’s offer… no. He was gone when his parents closed the window.
Years pass by, and the child grows up of course. While Jimmy’s out visiting Tiger Lily, Peter and I sit in the hideout. His shadow is hunched over, like old clothes someone threw off without any thought. We know it’ll happen, but it never soothes the pain of knowing what we have to do. “Why… why do they always have to grow up!?!” I put my hand on his shoulder as Peter questions the otherwise silent tree. “We don’t get older, so why aren’t they the same!?!” I shook my head, my glow becoming the same blue color as the depths of the Neverseas. Peter took his trusted knife from his pocket, doing the occasional toss into the air. “Blade, we do it. Butt of the knife, we spare him.” I nodded as he threw the knife into the air; the blade landed into the ground with a soft thunk. Peter sighed heavily. “Blade… when he gets back we have to do it Tink. Shadow, you help too.” His shadow rose to the wall, nodding excitedly. I nodded too, ready to do whatever my friend said. “Time to punish them.” Clicking my heels, I flew off to hide.
After an hour, there was a thundering sound; Jimmy, now older than Peter, smiled as he landed on his bed. “Peter!” from my hiding place inside a small cabinet, I saw Peter’s signature childish smile. “What is it Jimmy?” he took a small arrowhead out of his back pocket, showing Peter with pride. “Look what Tiger Lily gave me. Cool huh? She says it’s a real arrowh-” suddenly swinging the knife, Peter went in for the kill. His eyes held a fury no one had ever seen. “W-Wait, P-Peter, stop it!” Jimmy narrowly dodged every swipe as Peter’s eyes raged with hatred. “You weren’t supposed to grow up!” he shouted; Jimmy was innocent, but I knew Peter didn’t care. I didn’t either; it showed in the new color of a midnight sky that surrounded me. “Tinkerbell!” I flew over, putting my Pixie Dust all over Jimmy; he froze as Peter’s shadow pushed him to the ground. Peter stood over Jimmy with an accomplished look; the grown man was sniveling like a baby. Peter glanced at me as the midnight color took over the room. “Sorry Jimmy, but you grew up. So you have to leave now.” Seconds before the knife came into contact with Jimmy’s throat, there were shouts of men coming closer. Peter got off of Jimmy to investigate the noise, his shadow following. I flew out, high enough so I wouldn’t be captured; sure enough, about fifty of Captain Hook’s men surrounded our tree. One of them snuck into the hideout; following him, he grabbed Jimmy. “Don’t worry… we won’t let Pan hurt you.” Jimmy nodded; as the pair began to run away, Shadow grabbed them by the legs. I flew to Peter, letting him know that Jimmy and another pirate were subdued. “Alright Tink. I’ll be right there.”
Jimmy glared at me as I looked at him, a glimmer of evil hidden in the smile. He was tied to a chair; the pirate who tried to help him escape was outside with Peter. This was my favorite part. “T-Tink, why?” I laughed; it’s not like he’ll understand me even if I did tell him. Suddenly, there was the cry of pain and anguish, followed by Peter. His eyes were like a child finished playing with his formerly favorite toy. There were mysterious dark red splashes on his clothes. “All right, now that that mess outside has been taken care of-” he suddenly came so close to Jimmy’s face their noses were almost touching. “It’s time to thin you out.”
We flew over the shark infested waters of the Neversea. Peter was holding Jimmy by his leg, letting the poor adult dangle hundreds of feet in the air. His cries sounded like that of a distressed child, half gasps escaping him as he tried barging for his life. “Sorry Jimmy, but-” a sudden flick of Peter’s hand sent the man flying; the quiet splash, followed by shrieks of terror sent a smile to our faces. Peter looked at me. “It’s late… should we get another?” I nodded, excited.
