Selbast bounded through the overgrowth and twitched his nose slightly. "This way, Kraimley!" Sel's younger brother waded through the brambles and began picking the thorns from his hair and clothes.
"How much further? I don't think we'll make it by dawn," Kraim mumbled and shuffled his way next to his brother. Sel took another whiff of the air and pointed to his left.
"Only a little further."
"Little..." Kraim scoffed at the word.
They continued trekking through the woods for a few hours until they saw their cabin in the trees, a cozy wooden structure nestled between the branches of an old tree. Sel scrambled up the trunk first, his paws causing small chunks of bark to shower onto Kraim's head. Kraim dusted off his hair and climbed up after, eager to get out of the cold night air.
They crept quietly to their room and slipped into their bunk bed; Kraim on top, Sel on the bottom. The window of their room lit up slowly with a warm orange glow when Sel laid on his back and stuck his feet straight up, kicking the upper bunk.
"Hey Kraim, what time is it?" Kraim rolled and leaned his head over the bunk, his ears pushed back, quite clearly vexed.
"Nearly 5 in the morning, why?" Sel sat bolt upright and grabbed his backpack and snatched a blanket from the bed. His eyes were wild with fear.
"That's not the sun, Kraim."
