"Aidy, Aidy Aidy! wake up!"
The child called him in whispers, shaking the other's body as he wrapped himself in his covers.
The other child moved on the bed, covering his head with the pillow.
"Wake up Aidy!" the other boy lifts one corner of the pillow, finding the other's tired face, which looks upset.
"What is it ,Kale..?" the other asks in a sleepy tone.
"Let's get out of here." The other moves a little away from the bed, giving space for the other to remove the pillow from his head, revealing a little boy with dark skin and freckles with messy curly hair, with a confused and sleepy look holding a teddy bear in one arm.
The other boy, dark skin tone (but a little paler), curly dark hair that reached his neck and different colored eyes, picks up a backpack that was at the foot of the bed and gives it to his brother.
"What..?" The one with short hair looked at his backpack, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, "get out of here?" He looked at his brother who was looking at him with a serious look.
Both of the same height, same age, same face. Twins.
"I'm tired of staying here, I'm tired of seeing them treat you like this, but today was the last straw! Let 's go, Aiden!" He still spoke in whispers, why? They weren't the only ones.
They look around, a huge room full of bunk beds, all taken up by other children. The room was cold, the windows were huge, almost reaching the ceiling, and there was mold on the walls.
This was an orphanage.
"Let's go." the brother holds the other's hand asking him to follow him, "we don't have much time until they check my bed, let's get away as soon as possible!"
The other looked at his brother undecidedly, squeezing his stuffed animal tightly. "I-I don't know Kale..." he sounds tearful, "I'm scared...."
He looks around, seeing only darkness. He cowers, hugging the stuffed animal tightly in fear.
"I won't allow anyone to hurt you."
His brother holds his hand tightly. The two look at each other and even though he is scared, Aiden accepts.
He gets out of bed carefully so as not to make any noise, holding the teddy bear against his chest. Kale offers him his hand with a determined smile and Aiden smiles back with a nervous smile.
They both hold hands and grab their backpacks.
"I have already prepared a means of escape." he says walking on tiptoe as he guided his brother around the room, going to the entrance and sticking his head out, checking if the monitors were wandering.
Not seeing a single light, he holds Aiden's hand tightly and begins to walk down the hallway, trying not to wake anyone.
He arrived at the end of a corridor, a corridor that had a single window at the end that was slightly open.
The boy smiles, heading towards it while holding his brother's hand.
"Okay, help me open it, okay?"
"I-I don't know, I'm not strong enough."
"Don't worry, it's not that heavy." he says, taking the base of the window and trying to climb it, Aiden reluctantly joins in, trying to lift the window and open it.
It was then that they heard the sounds of footsteps. Kale looks at the end of the hallway in horror.
"Fast!" he whispers with more force, the moonlight illuminating his face.
Aiden tries hard but his arms are too weak, his hand slips and hits the window frame, making a noise.
Kale immediately stands on the doorframe and begins to lift it with more force until it is open enough for the two of them to pass through, taking Aiden's hand and helping him out through the window.
They were on the first floor of the building, so it wasn't a big fall. Kale takes Aiden by the hand and squeezes.
"Let's go!!" he says in a loud tone, pulling Aiden with him and starting to run.
The two continued to run through the trees that surrounded the orphanage, it was an old building that lived close to a city, they just needed to go there and find a place to stay, and pray that they wouldn't be taken to that place again.
Kale was fast, while Aiden was already losing breath, but was trying to keep up with his brother.
They look at tars, seeing flashlight lights behind them, "Keep running!!" Kale screams, holding tight to his brother.
Eventually Aiden's weak legs gave out, he tripped over a root while Kale continued to run but stopped to help him up.
"Come on!" Kale holds Aiden by the hand, the youngest looks like he wants to cry, but Kale just lifts him up and starts running again.
The lanterns were getting closer, but Kale wasn't giving up.
"Wait! Mister Ray!" Aiden screams, seeing that his stuffed animal has fallen, he lets go of Kale and runs towards the teddy bear.
"Aid-!"
Aiden takes the teddy bear in his arms and turns towards Kale.
But he wasn't there.
"K-Kale..?" He looks around, but before he can shout for his brother he is pulled by the shoulder.
"ARE YOU CRAZY??" One of the adults at the orphanage was staring at him aggressively, squeezing his shoulder tightly.
Aiden stares at them in fear, eyes starting to water at the sound of the adults' angry screams scolding him for running away.
For what seemed like minutes in his head he tried to explain himself, but only clueless stutters came out of his mouth.
Then he started to cry, irritating the adults even more who just pushed him towards the orphanage, grabbing him by the wrist and forcing him back to that place, making him scream even more, to be let go. for his brother, for anyone.
but no one came.
Behind the trees, a thin, metallic figure held Kale in its arms. The boy fought and kicked but the creature didn't move.
"Behave, and maybe we'll leave your brother alone."
These words leave Kale horrified. He looks at the figure, bright orange eyes surrounded by darkness stared back at him lifeless and soulless.
That wasn't human.
"It's a shame I couldn't be quick, my mission was you two, but the master won't have a problem with just one." The figure kept the boy trapped and began to walk, a mechanical sound from his legs with each step he took.
Kale looks back at the orphanage, tears in his eyes at the mere thought of his brother being alone in that hellhole.
He feels a breeze and looks in front of him and the creature. A door opened into nothingness, the silhouette of something as big as a tree, a cylindrical shape that seemed invisible.
He tries to break free in fear but the creature only holds him tighter.
"Don't make things difficult, child. The master has plans for you."
The creature, with Kale in its arms, walks calmly into the cylindrical object.
Kale is given one last look at the orphanage, mostly obscured by trees, before the door looms in his face.
Kale was never found by the orphanage.
In the following days, Aiden was put in a separate room as punishment, that was where naughty children went all the time. And for a long time he feared this place.
It was a room without a bed, without windows and without light, Aiden hated the dark.
His teddy bear was also confiscated, so he was truly alone.
It didn't help that when he was released the other kids picked on him even more, implying that his brother abandoned him.
For a while he tried to ignore it, but a few days turned into weeks, months, and before he knew it, he spent his last two years in the orphanage without his brother.
Kale had really abandoned him.
Aiden didn't make friends, much less wanted to be adopted, but in the end he had no control over that, he never had control over anything.

Aiden didn't make friends, much less wanted to be adopted, but in the end he had no control over that, he never had control over anything.
On his last day he was adopted by a small family who wanted a child to cheer up their child who wanted a sibling.
But that didn't mean they cared about him.
They have already started giving him rules and orders, not letting him do anything without permission or giving him privacy.
For years they proved to be rigid, and Aiden, not knowing how to defend himself, just sucked it up.
Every insult, criticism, stray hair, just made him want to disappear.
The only source of support was the family's grandmother, she was kind and she didn't treat him so badly. She was also a little strict, but not as much as her parents.
After a few years, the biological son, the adopted brother, started to become distant, becoming even more like his parents, teasing Aiden at school and making him feel even more alone.
But one day that changed, one day another child didn't remain silent, this child defended him.
This child quickly became his friend. And how lucky was that! He was the nephew of the school principal.
And since then Aiden wasn't so alone anymore. But even so, he still missed his brother, but had already accepted that he had abandoned him.
After all, as his own adopted brother said;
"Nobody loves you, that's why you were abandoned."
And it never left Aiden's mind, and it would haunt him for the rest of his life.
