Far beyond the chaotic planets of the tender universe, a quiet pocket of space remained. A large black blanket decorated in tiny white stars, thin strings of platinum, and in its centre a stunning woman with the epithet, Mother of all Dreams.
She was stunningly sickening, with cosmic, white hair that resembled nearby milky ways, beautiful curves like no other diva, and white eyes that transported witnesses to dimensions beyond their imagination.
With a tender, soft expression, she held a snow globe close to her face, admiring the shiny neon lights of skyscrapers and fireworks.
‘... I never knew mortals could evolve so fast from the days of fresh white snow and occasional green trees… What a wonderful world of bright colour. Hopefully, the loyal Mannequin I assigned to this gorgeous wintry paradise is enjoying the view just as I.’ The cosmic woman lovingly thought to herself, as she gently caressed the coloured snow globe in the palm of her smooth hands.
Though as she desired to set the object down with the shelf of snow globes, a mysterious shadow lurked at the centre of the little mini world. The icy palace, which stood as the tallest structure within this snow globe, had suddenly faded to a dark grey shade, and the most disturbing revelation was that there seemed to be no sign of the Mannequin anywhere.
“Comet A015?... A015?! Where could you be in a moment like this? Perhaps you are applying another facial at this moment?” The Mother of all Dreams worriedly called into the darkening globe, hoping to receive an answer through the Mannequin’s built-in radios.
But there was no answer, only an eerie static silence.
‘A broken radio? That has not happened unless… The Mannequin has been permanently damaged… My, oh, my! What absolute horror has befallen my loyal subject? And how could something like a mortal break something of the stars?’ The Mother of all Dreams instantly stood up and snapped her fingers, forming a towering shelf of small, sleeping Mannequins.
The doll-like stewards who remained loyal to their cosmic creator all remained in sleeping poses, huddling in groups with their eyes closed and inner batteries charging from bits of blue stardust.
‘Selecting the correct Mannequin is key… A015 was particularly skilled as a coordinated fighter…’
The Mother of all Dreams diligently browsed the sleeping statues until she gently held up one with the label ‘A234’ upon its left wrist.
“My child… A234. Wake up, sleepyhead.” She soothingly called out as she sprinkled purple stardust. “I have a dire mission to assign to you,”
The Mannequin quickly opened its turquoise eye and let out a rather dramatic yawn. It sleepily stood up and lightly cracked its joints.
“Ah…” A234 could not help but let out another sleepy yawn. “Good morning, Mother of all Dreams… Is my nap time over already?”
“I’m afraid so, young comet of mine.” The Mother of Dreams could not help but chuckle at the confused expression of A234, who looked around as if it had not a clue where it was. “200 years of sleep is just enough for you.”
A234 merely blinked and lightly tapped its face to wake up faster.
“...Dearest Mother of Dreams, may I have 250 years of sleep after this mission?”
“Comet child of mine, perhaps I shall grant a generous siesta so long as you oversee this next dire mission with great care.” The Mother of all Dreams’ light smile faded as she presented the snow globe in front of A234.
To the cosmic creator, the snow globe was merely the size of her palm, but to A234, it was gigantic. Its turquoise eyes sparkled with curiosity, as mere flashes of the World faded in and out. A preview of sorts to the unfamiliar winter world.
“I repeat, this is an incredibly dire mission, my child; a worrisome event occurred under A015’s care, and his inner radio is gravely damaged.” The Mother of all Dreams reached for a platinum strand of silk and began sewing a plain romper and matching hat.
"Carefully manage the mysterious, conceivable disappearance of A015 and punish anyone who dares to destroy the snow globe."
"...That's not the most comforting assignment I've had." A234 dizzily blinked with an uneasy expression, " I recall once, being close to A015... He was one of the most accomplished fighters who had saved countless worlds before. What could have stopped him, Mother of all Dreams?"
"The destruction happened so quickly, I could not detect the source of the chaos..." The Ethereal woman shook her head in disbelief as she finished A234's new outfit. "All I know is how it happened."
A234's turquoise pair of eyes sparkled as it found itself wearing a new, in-season uniform. With a change of demeanour, the Mannequin stretched and faced the new mini world with bold confidence.
"... Mother of all Dreams, I refuse to let you down a single time. I will not let your precious World, or any, fall to destruction. Mortals, malicious aliens, or natural disasters, I will manage them all!"
The ethereal woman giggled and patted A234 on the head like a doting Mother.
"Please, my over-enthusiastic child, do not overestimate the enemy. If they damaged A015, they would do the same to you. Can you truly oversee and manage this mission?"
"I may not have spoken to A015 for centuries because our missions rarely aligned, but I highly respected him as my old friend. I'll do anything I can to save him, even if it means I have to wash someone's laundry, and you know I despise musty clothes, Mother of all Dreams."
"Ha! Then be on your way, young Comet A234. Report to me on your inner radio the moment you find A015..." Mother of all Dreams' face saddened. "Whether he is dead or gravely injured, I desire my subjects to be alright in the end..."
