Swashbuckling is an Awakening Dreams side story. You meet Timothy in Chapter 5, and it is clear that there is some history between some of the other characters. This explores a bit of that history between Timothy, Daebru, and Dam'atia. It is not required to read Awakening Dreams first, but I would definitely recommend reading up to at least Chapter 5: Sanctuary - The Widow's Folly before reading this story.
