Kenjiro stirred under the hotel blankets. The phone's vibrations accompanied by a repetitive
marimba echoed on the nightstand. Kenjiro groaned again as he reached out to grab his
phone.
A head with a mousy hair slid out from the thin blankets, brown eyes groggily squinted at the
object he picked up. An omamori with golden lettering laid on top of Kenjiro's palm. Confusion
dawned upon his already tired eyes. His phone blasted the alarm again, its bright screen
slightly illuminating the small room.
Kenjiro's eyes widened as he glanced at the time. 12:30 PM. He cursed and hurriedly got out of
the bed. He had snoozed his alarm for a total of 30 minutes. He scurried to the bathroom to
brush his teeth and wash his face. Afterward, he went back to the room. Kenjiro picked out
some clothing he'd prepared.
A long-sleeved shirt or a tank top?
Kenjiro weighed the pros and cons but picked out the clothes he was more comfortable with.
The weather's hot, wearing anything with sleeves won't be a bright idea.
He stopped and debated whether he should take a shower. His eyes slowly landed on a
deodorant spray.
Eh, I took a shower last night. I'm already late.
He had made a decision at that moment.
Kenjiro used the deodorant whose scent resembled dark chocolate. After dressing up he took
hold of his phone again clicked on his contacts list, and scrolled to the name 'Akiko Kawa' he
hovered on the call button and pressed it as he ran towards the exit.
The other end of the call picked up on the first ring.
"Something wrong, Kenjiro? Did you get hit by a car on the way?" A calm voice sounded out from the speaker. But Kenjiro knew the venom disguised from Akiko's composure.
Uh oh...
"Hey, uh, I'm going to be late. I snoozed off." Kenjiro replied in a hurried manner, he walked quickly
towards the elevator and pressed the button.
"Hmm..."
Kenjiro knew the meaning behind Akiko's simple hum.
'Of course, you'd hit the snooze button repeatedly. What's new?'
"Uh, is the plan still on? Are we still going to meet at the plaza?"
Only silence followed after Kenjiro's reply. Kenjiro mentally cursed.
Did I finally piss him off?
"I'm hungry."
Ah.
"You haven't eaten too, right? Go to the resto-cafe nearby the plaza instead. I'll send you the
location." Akiko replied and hung up soon after.
Kenjiro blankly stared into the screen, the elevator dinged and the doors parted. He walked
inside still staring into the screen with a stupefied expression. He didn't have to press any of the
elevator buttons as there were already people inside with the same destination.
A notification ringed from Kenjiro's phone, a location sent by Akiko.
Oh.
Kenjiro's eyes lit up from the location's name, Kusina ni Juan. One of Kenjiro's favorite
restaurants. A smile formed on his lips. The hotel concierge
greeted him with a good afternoon as he exited the elevator doors.
