They say the nature of an alpha is incorruptible.
An alpha exists to dominate, to conquer, to breed.
An alpha worthy of that rank can only exist with an omega at his side.
And yet, he has never truly been like that. Not really.
No, within the four walls of his room, Hanjae longs to be dominated. He wants to be possessed, controlled.
Hanjae… has never desired an omega.
Hanjae, an alpha, wants another alpha by his side.
But not just any alpha. No.
He wants Jeon Jiwoon.
He always has. Since they were kids. For as long as he can remember.
But, just like that feeling, Hanjae also carries another memory. Something painful.
Something that still tears at his soul even now.
“Hey, Hanjae… D-do you know Minji?”
The two of them are in their first-year classroom. They’ve just finished tidying up and are enjoying the cool breeze flowing through the open window. The setting sun bathes them in golden light.
“How could I not?” he chuckles. Together with Jiwoon, he’s known that boy for years.
Jiwoon lifts an arm, rubbing the back of his neck.
“A-are you in love with him?”
Silence.
Hanjae raises an eyebrow and pulls the lollipop from his mouth.
“Excuse me? Where did that come from?”
Jiwoon flushes.
“S-so I was wrong?”
“God, Jiwoon, why are you acting so weird? What’s with you?”
Hanjae laughs, stepping closer. “You almost sound jealous of me and Minji.”
He leans down just enough for their faces to align, hands stuffed in his pockets. He grins—no, he growls. Inside his chest, a fire he hasn’t been able to name burns fiercely.
Jiwoon lowers his gaze. He’s always been terribly shy.
And for a brief, fleeting instant, Hanjae’s hopes flare. So do his eyes.
But just like the sun vanishing behind the horizon, everything dies in a heartbeat.
With a single sentence.
“B-because Minji and I decided to try dating.”
Silence.
Darkness.
Time itself seems to stop.
It feels like Hanjae’s spirit has left his body.
From the outside, everything looks pitiful.
Hanjae looks pitiful.
He straightens up, stiff and mechanical.
Jiwoon notices his tension.
“B-but if you don’t want us to—”
Hanjae turns toward the window, raising a hand to stop him.
“Why wouldn’t I want the two of you to be together?”
His teeth snap down on the candy, shattering it. Then he turns back, wearing the smile he’s mastered over the years.
“You and Minji are an alpha and an omega. And you and I… we’re friends. Right?”
Jiwoon nods, a shy but relieved smile brightening his round face.
“Yeah, you’re my best friend.”
Hanjae clenches his fist, then lifts it toward him.
Jiwoon bumps it with his own.
“Right. Best friends.”
That’s fine.
That’s how it should be.
Now, Hanjae has no excuses left.
Now, he can forget Jiwoon.
And maybe—just maybe—he can become a normal alpha.
An alpha who falls in love with an omega.
An alpha who doesn’t look at his best friend with lust in his eyes.
…
A moan vibrates against his ear. Hot breath brushes his skin.
The thrusts are deep, frantic. Almost desperate.
Hanjae’s eyes open wide.
He had dreamed of this moment his whole life. Jiwoon, naked above him, driving into him with hunger. He had imagined the sweat, the slick heat of skin against skin, the flushed expression twisted by pleasure.
And yet, nothing is as he imagined.
The weight on his chest is not comfort, but pain.
The hands gripping him are not seeking love, but escape.
Jiwoon is inside him, but he doesn’t look at him.
He doesn’t see him.
A sob cracks the air.
Hanjae feels him tremble.
“Don’t cry…” he whispers, cupping the back of the other alpha’s neck.
He pulls him close, running a hand through his sweat-damp hair.
“I-I’m sorry…” Jiwoon stammers, his voice breaking. “I’m so sorry…”
Hanjae leans up, brushing his lips against his face.
He takes Jiwoon’s cheeks in his hands, wiping his wet lashes and damp cheeks with tender thumbs.
Slow, reverent touches, as though he were afraid of breaking him.
“It’s okay,” he murmurs.
He kisses his wet lips.
Then his cheeks, his eyelids. His mouth collects the salt of his tears, but he doesn’t turn away.
“I’m here now. You’re not alone, Jiwoon.”
Jiwoon doesn’t answer.
He keeps thrusting. Again. And again.
And Hanjae lets him.
This isn’t the moment he dreamed of.
But it’s real.
And it’s his.
Even if only for tonight.
