It was dark in Eirc. A small town within a vast mountain range that cut through the kingdom of Kalesh and stopped only in the distant plateaus of Hunfmund, land of the great continental dukes.
And this dark was especially scary for Danovan. Maybe because his head ached a lot for the blows he received, or because the only thing he could see with his completely purple and swollen eyes were diffuse figures, but he could not express a single feeling for the figure being mercilessly beaten in front of him. He was adult enough to understand that he was only in this situation because of this figure, and child enough not to blame him for it.
With pale cheeks still glued to the earthen floor of the house, he saw the thugs beating his father finally stopping, apparently satisfied with the intensity of the beating. Soon after this, the muffled cry of a woman reached his ears, he could not see anything because he had no ability to move the body. He only heard the muffled sound of something heavy being carelessly dragged, and shortly after this the voice of one of the aggressors.
"We will take the woman and the child, for now it will be enough to pay off part of the debt ..." - said what appeared to be the leader of the bandits.
Danovan felt his body being lifted off the floor as he was thrown over the shoulders of one of the men. At a glance watched as his mother was dragged by the long black hair and thrown behind a wagon, it was the last sight he had of her before losing consciousness.
- Damn Ridley ... you're stealing!
A man's thick, angry voice woke Danovan. Frightened he tried to leap to his feet, but felt a force in his wrists holding him to the ground. Still confused he looked around. There was only a half flickering light illuminating the room, which would be quiet and even morbid if it were not for the screams coming from the other side of the bars that held him. he felt his chest sink as if there was something missing for an instant. he knew where he was.
Everyone in Eirc knew about the warehouse, here all the goods smuggled by the largest kalesh criminal group, the self-proclaimed Celestial Clan, were kept . This clan retained much of all illegal trade on the continent, and the royal family itself dared not raise a finger against them. Now he was in one of the dirty cells of the dreaded warehouse, bound by his wrists on the damp stone wall.
-Shut up, dog, or do you want someone to tell the superiors about what you do with the goods ...?- Another voice sounded, following the high sound of a slap and the muscular body of a man banging against the bars of Danovan's cell, causing the boy to cringe with fright.
He saw with all the clarity that the torches allowed, a medium-sized person to approach calmly the man who was thrown, grabbing him by the neck as a farmer would hold a helpless chicken.-E a próxima vez que me chamar de ladrão eu vou ensinar para você o porque sou o executor desse lugar.
-And the next time you call me a thief, I'll teach you why I'm the executioner of this place.
Drained Danovan's eyes met Ridley's for the first time. The devil himself from that hell.
