"In conclusion, you want me to record the stories of everything and give them to you."
I asked the humanoid being in front of me. It might be rude to call it that but I couldn't distinguish any details on this white being who was sitting on the ground in this completely black space except the fact that it looked like a human.
"Yes! An easy job for someone of your caliber, right?"
It didn't have any facial features but I could tell it was smiling at me. Although it looked like we should have been talking for a while, I felt something was missing.
My memory was missing. How did all this happen? What were we talking about? Why am I here? Where am I? My confusion might be obvious which is why it gives me an explanation.
"Are you worried about your memory of our conversation? You asked me to delete that part out, remember? Oh, I guess not."
Now it's just laughing at me. What was on my mind back then when I made that decision? I have no idea. But there's still a problem.
"Don't you think I need to know the details of this so-called job? How should I do it? What's the benefits? Are there any rules and regulations?"
"We already sorted all that out and signed a contract. You will see all of the details at your desk."
Really? But how could I trust that the contract is still the same before I got wiped? But before I could ask the question.
"Just believe in yourself. Do you know how tiring it was to negotiate with you? You might not know, but I really want to complain about how troublesome you were. I don't want to go through all that again and have you asked to delete part of your memory out again. It'll become a vicious cycle."
Could it read my mind? or maybe my face was that obvious… not possible. I had absolute confidence in my mask after all.
"I understand, but there is something I need to ask. Not something serious but it's quite important."
The being tiled its head, curious and a little flustered about what I was going to ask.
"What should I call you?"
The laughter echoed through the entire black space. It's so unbearably loud that I felt dizzy and had to close my ears. Just before I lost my consciousness from the headache, all the noises were gone and it answered my question.
"White. You can call me White. I believe that is enough for our introduction. I'm looking forward to what kind of stories you will gather. Now, sleep."
As it finished speaking, my consciousness drifted off into nothingness.

When I came to my senses, I found myself laying on the bed staring at the black ceiling. After I got up to look around, I realized that the bed was replaced with an office chair and when I turned my head, I found the office desk, bookshelf and common furniture in my sight. Everything arranged to look like a cozy square office room.
But as if things weren't weird enough, except for all the furniture and the suspicious door opposite of my desk everything is completely black. I walked around but everything was surprisingly normal. There’s even a mini fridge with cans of cola inside, thank you mr.White!
I tried to go outside the office area and find that everything will move along with me after I reach a certain distance. Was this how characters in games feel when they walk into an invisible wall? After pondering that question mindlessly, My eyes locked onto the bookshelves packed with unfamiliar books and was tempted to start reading through all of them, but I refrained myself.
"Let's ignore them for now. Where's the job description White told me about?"
Then the book just appeared on my desk. Did this space respond to my mind? I decided to sit down and go through this instruction book. Then I noticed something terrifying written on the first page of this book.
'Welcome to Moria. Unlike where you came from this world has mana and magic. It’s like a fantasy novel you might have read before. This might be a lot to take in but don’t worry, the bookshelves were filled with everything you need to know about this world. I hope you will find many interesting stories for me. - White'
