Author's Notes

These are my original characters in an original universe. I've been writing these characters and developing them and the universe for years. I've been writing stories for just as long and have been improving my storytelling and writing skills as I grow. I am not perfect and to please forgive any errors. I also want to mention I write when I have the time and motivation, so there will be no set schedule and there will be long gaps between the release of chapters. 

Disclaimer: The concept for The Arranged was heavily inspired by "The Selection" book series by Kiera Cass, although heavily modified. While the concept of a competition to win a royal's hand in marriage is not my own, the characters, stories, world, and universe are all my own original work.

About the Universe

This story is not the "official" story of this universe I have developed. This is an alternate universe (AU) that uses the same characters, universe, and back stories (although slightly modified to fit the plot of this story), but slightly modified to tell a different story. 

A tiny bit of backstory: The universe that this story takes place in is called Ancennous, a roughly North America sized continent that is composed of seven countries I created myself. Someday I hope to write an "official" story that will involve the entire lore and story of Ancennous and it's countries. The continent was created by God-like beings called "The Ancestors", of which each country is named after. It is unknown to the people of Ancennous if the Ancestors were real people, or made up to explain the phenomenon and history of the continent. Each Ancestor upheld a value that they modeled their portion of land after. Whitebridge is the country this story takes place in, and the Ancestor valued discipline. This value meant Whitebridge became a very heavily military focused country, but it is also very peaceful. The military is rarely used in action, but the people of Whitebridge very much uphold their Ancestor's value through the practice of military and training, as well as maintaining stong order and calm among it's people.

The story takes place in the capital of Whitebridge, specifically at the Colton Palace where the royals live. It is a peaceful country ruled by the Colton family monarchy. They are well loved and respected among the people of Whitebridge and has been for generations. Sonjay is the current prince and his father Simon is the current king. There is no queen (see Sonjay's backstory). Whitebridge takes the security and safety of it's people and monarchs very seriously, as its imbedded deep in the countries roots due to the value of their Ancestor. The Royal Guard employs and trains the soldiers that will protect the royal family and their possessions. They are tasked with protecting the palace with it's contents as well as inhabitants. The Royal Army handles military matters around the country and between countries.
