“This is gonna be amazing, Sera, where’s your backstage pass?” Joy asks as she flashes her own around her neck.
I pull mine that had fallen in my shirt. As if I would ever forget, considering how much I spent on it.
“Right here,” I say as we present our tickets and pass the guard in charge of directing us where to stand for the concert. Another guard further along notices the pass around our necks and stares at them for a moment. He prods his earpiece as someone speaks on the other end, nodding at the directions they give him.
“How about a picture, guys?” Blake says as he taps through his phone and readies the camera, seeing as we have a moment to ourselves.
Joy and I smile as we gather close, each of us showing off our pass to the camera and making sure our fan merch showed as much as possible. A flash of light and a smile pass as the guard taps me lightly on the shoulder and points us to Tunnel A. We nod and walk to our destination, noticing the rest of the crowd being directed to other tunnels and rows. Blake basked in the exclusivity as he did his very best to flash his badge to all those we passed along the way. We approached the front row and noticed how close we actually were to the stage, smelling the polished wood and within arm’s distance to the base of the platform. We reached our seats only to notice another girl sitting in our row watching us as we took our seats beside her. The girl had bright red hair and had the same badge as we did. Must be the last lucky winner of the contest. The girl locked eyes with me first and smiled warmly.
“Hi, I’m Grace! You guys won the Summer Stage Draw too!” She said cheerful and excited as she showed off her shirt, an exclusive yellow and pink tee with J-Moon’s face and panda mascot on the front hugging.
“Hey! I’m Sera, these are my friends Joy and Blake. That’s an awesome shirt! I tried getting it but they sold out in my size and you know how resellers can be.” I said as the two behind me wave and smile, complimenting her attire and introducing themselves properly.
“You guys won together? Wow, that’s some luck! Well, this concert’s supposed to be amazing, this is his second concert in the United States and I heard his first one was like wow, you just had to be there.” Grace said enthusiastically as she flipped open a hand mirror and checked her makeup.
“Oh my god, I heard!” Joy said, leaning in and almost yelling, trying to compete with the roar of the crowd as the seating was almost complete and the show was in its beginning stages.
“Did they ever find that missing person? I heard J-Moon was helping the police find someone who went unaccounted for.” Blake asked.
“Oh bless his heart, they must’ve found him, I’m sure. They got extra security for this concert so we’re good!” Grace said, smiling at Blake as the lights dimmed and spotlights shone amongst the crowd.
J-Moon took to the stage gracefully and with nothing but swagger in each step. Instantly, the crowd roared louder than I had ever heard. His vocals managed to soothe the roaring crowd to a whisper as his buttery smooth voice took over, starting the night off with a jazzy R&B song. Moon wore a white button-up shirt with a red heart over where his beat, red pants that matched with a pair of very expensive sneakers to complete the outfit as he glided across the stage. His bluish-silver hair and brimming blue eyes captivated the audience after he transitioned from jazz to upbeat pop, bringing the tempo up and getting the crowd to their feet, each mouthing the words and screaming his name. I joined Joy and the others as they sang along with J-Moon, jumping and mouthing each word as if it were our own.
J-Moon stood like a titan, looking at us in the first row and smiling, giving a wink that made us gasp as he continued his performance, activating the crowd as he pleased.
The last song of the night was finally over and the hour and a half concert was now ending as J-Moon thanked the crowd for the wonderful night and gave us a final glowing smile and a wave before he disappeared into the back.
“THAT WAS AMAZING!” Blake yelled as he hugged me and then Joy, reaching over and pulling in Grace for an enormous hug as well, that she accepted and returned with a gigantic grin.
“Excuse me, guests, if the four of you could show me your passes please,” a woman in a black dress asked as she readied the clipboard in her hand. She lowered her glasses and examined each of our passes, marking something on her board and giving us all a smile.
“Fantastic, if you would all come with me please,” she said as she unlatched the metal security rail and waved for all of us to pass. It was as if we floated beside her, each of us still reliving the moments of the concert, mouthing the words of our favorite songs, and taking pictures of each other. Joy and Grace giggled about their favorite moments as Blake scrolled through his phone, looking at the social media comments and rejoicing in their overwhelming satisfaction with the concert.
The woman brought us to a limo that sat waiting for us at the front of the stadium with a driver holding the door open for us to enter.
“I thought we were going backstage?” Blake asked the woman.
“Jin asked if we could hold the meet at his hotel, don’t worry, it’s no extra cost and you’ll be brought to his suite where he has the entire floor rented. Now, if you please,” the woman said as she motioned for us to enter the limo. Without hesitation Grace and Joy entered, screaming at the luxurious accommodations that included chilled drinks, overhead lighting, and even a television screen with games ready to be played. Blake and I followed as Grace and Joy had already started pouring champagne, preparing glasses for us all.
The driver gently closed the door and walked off with a nod to the woman, who walked to the front and took the wheel instead, starting up the limo and taking us to the hotel.
