Transmigration is always the same: First the pain of dying than everything turns black and you think you are dead then suddenly you wake up in a different body in the middle of an exam you never learned for or even heard about. At least that was the case for Yun. After opening his eyes, he was sitting in the middle of a weird symbol surrounded by five older men all looking at him in deep contemplation before one finally started talking.
"Young man it seems you have survived the first test and we now will continue with our examination." Weirdly enough Yun had no problems understanding these men. But other than that, he still was completely lost on what was happening and why. But since he couldn't just be like. 'Uhm sorry I just transmigrated into this body someone tell me what the hell is going on he could only sit there in silence and wait for what would happen next.
"Your soul has been tested yesterday today we have tested your metal strength after this you will be tested on your physical strength." Some other old man explained without any further words they lowered their head and a burning pain was rushing though Yun's new body. He didn't even know his new bodies name why he was tested or what the fuck was going on and now he was tortured? To what end? He didn't understand.
"State your name and soul rank." One of the old men spoke. Yun could only bite his teeth as every muscle in his body was starting to shiver and burn as if they all got exhausted at the same time. He didn't know what they wanted from him and why he was here all he could do was hold on to the last bit of sanity he had left somewhere deep inside him and endure the pain.
"State your name and soul rank." The command was repeated. Yun bit his teeth tighter trying to suppress the screams but he was feeling the fatigue in the corner of his eye's small dots of black dancing there. "If you state your name and soul rank, we will conclude the test." Another voice spoke again. Right now, Yun really wished to do nothing more than state his name and soul rank but he had no idea what his soul rank was or even his name.
The black was filling out more parts of his vision. He was pushing back as much as possible but his body was getting weaker and weaker his muscles were screaming in protest, he couldn't even close his hands to firsts because his muscles were that weak. He was at the brink of complete exhaustion only holding on with his iron clawed will he had gathered over the years. But even that was weakening. "State your name and soul rank." The command was given again but Yun couldn't comply with it.
The pressure was increased and the burning pain got even stronger. He no longer cared about anything opening his mouth to scream but no sound came out he was too exhausted to even scream. Finally, the black was starting to take over his whole vision he was sinking into endless blackness. The last thought he had was that was a short transmigration. Maybe in my next life, I have more luck. And with that, he died once more.
Or so he thought. Finally, his senses were coming back to him. He was surrounded by warmth and soft clouds. 'That's what heaven must feel like' he thought to himself before he finally heard a voice next to him. "Mo Shin Yun I swear next time I will kill you for real. How can you be like this every fucking time?" A hand appeared in front of his face moving quickly until he was feeling a short pain as the hand pinched his cheeks. "First you endure the mentality test until you are on the brink of death than you endure the physical strength test until you pass out. Just because you are a yellow-coloured soul doesn't mean you need to hurt yourself like this. You are still in the low mid-ranks so stop worrying me like that."
His cheek was pinched once more even harder this time. Yun could only sigh. At least now he knew his new name Mo Shin Yun. Everything the voice said after was making little sense to him. He still had no concept of this world what so ever but he still stored all those information for later. For now, he needed to find out as much as he could about where he was and what was going on since clearly this was not the same world he came from. With a murmured protest he tried to push the hand away and looked up. "Where am I?" He asked.
"The hospital pavilion where else would you be? You passed out and were only seconds from dying during your examen. Do you have not even a few brain cells working on self-preservation?" The voice next to him answered sounding really angry and exhausted. "Do you even think about how worried I would be if you pass out? Do you even once thought about how I would feel if you died before you threw yourself into your death like that?" The voice was talking itself into a rage again. Mo Shin Yun quickly tried to lift his hand to stop the voice but he couldn't move. Every muscle in his body was arching and as he was trying to move the pain came back. "Don't move. Your muscles are still all ripped and hurt. If you want to sit up, I help you." The voice said in a resigned tone but he soon after was helped to sit up and now he could finally see the person the voice belonged to.
It was a boyish-looking girl with a sweet pointy nose and white skin in beautiful indigo robes. "Honestly next time please don't try and kill yourself." She sat down in the chair next to the bed. Mo Shin Yun could see the streaks of tears that had run down her cheek. "I'm sorry." He softly mumbled feeling guilty for making a girl cry. Right now, he really just wanted to ask who the girl was but seeing the way she acted around him the previous owner of the body must have been close with her so asking would give away the fact that he transmigrated. All he could do now was making the girl talk while filtering out the important information.
Surprisingly it wasn't even that difficult. After she got over the first shock and seeing him awake again the girl just started talking nonstop about anything and everything. "You know you can count yourself lucky the masters decided that you passed the test and that you can move on to the initiation if you get picked by one of the teachers to follow. I thought they would eliminate you after you passed out during both exams and send you home. How would I be able to face grandpa if you were to be sent back home? Lucky us you passed. You know you are grandpa's biggest hope. Not once has anyone in your family shown potential. Just don't mess this up. We were told we might probably never see our relatives again but honestly you need to show grandpa some results before he passes away."
Mo Shin Yun sighed trying to keep up with everything she said but right now it was still not making any sense. "Mo Shin Yun are you even listening to me don't sigh at me like that. I am still two years older than you didn't grandpa teach you about respect?" She lifted her hand as if she was about to pinch his cheek again. Mo Shin Yun quickly turned his head away enduring the pain. "Don't pinch me again." It took a lot of energy to speak but he really didn't want to be pinched again. The girl sighed sitting back down. "If you don't want to be pinched stop putting yourself in danger like that. You have nothing to prove your soul has been measured already and nothing you do can change the colour. You are still mid-grade and you will reach prestige even with your current soul colour. Do you think I like spending my time in the hospital pavilion looking after you because you faint?"
Mo Shin Yun just let out another deep sigh. "What next?" He managed to push out before the girl would get into another rampage. "Now? Now you stay here and get better tomorrow the teachers will select students to follow them and once you got chosen you get trained. What else should happen?" She answered looking a little confused at his question. "No, I mean what next with this?" Mo Shin Yun quickly added as he carefully moved his arm covering up his question. "Oh, the priest said you need to stay in bed until tomorrow. They used a lot of Qi energy to get you stable and you need to take spiritual pills once you can move a little better to speed up your recovery even more." She replied the confused expression leaving her face.
"Lee You Sin." A different voice called from the entrance. Mo Shin Yun turned his head to see two girls walk in one in the same indigo robes as the girl next to him the other in beautiful blue robes. The girl next to him turned around to wave at the girls. "Give me a second I'm coming." Apparently, the girl's name was Lee You Sin at least now that mystery was solved. "I have to go my friends are here to pick me up but you have to promise me you will take care of yourself." She turned towards Mo Shin Yun one last time looking at him with a stern expression before she walked over to the two girls leaving the hospital pavilion.
Now that he finally had some quiet time for himself Mo Shin Yun started organizing his thoughts. Right now, he didn't know much about this world. He knew that his soul was yellow coloured. That he probably had some grandpa whom both he and the girl knew. With that, it was not too far off to think the girl was someone the old Mo Shin Yun knew for a long time. But they weren't related since she said something about his family not including herself in that. The girl was two years older than him but other than that he still hadn't found out much. Right now, he was hoping that tomorrow would give him some more information since something was going to happen tomorrow and until then the best he could do was rest and get his strength back while contemplating everything he had heard so far.
The hospital pavilion was quiet for most of the day. Once every few hours a girl in white robes would come over and check his conditions before handing him some pills to take. But other than that, he wasn't disturbed until late that evening when suddenly the doors to the pavilion busted open and a group of young men walked in calling out for the women in white to quickly come and take a look. Mo Shin Yun turned his head interested in what was happening. He quickly spotted one of the young men was bleeding out of a wound on his torso. The one bleeding was held up by two of his friends while that last one was standing next to them taking to the young woman who had hurried over after hearing them come in.
"He got cut during evening-practice. I told them not to be reckless but they just advanced to the sky level and weren't careful." The young man quickly explained to the girl in white robes and she nodded leading the injured man to a bed not far from Mo Shin Yun. Without much words, the girl only rushed away to get some pills before returning. "You should be alright soon just take some spiritual pills and don't move around." With that, she forced the boy to lay down before turning back to the others. She was mostly talking to the young man who brought them here.
"He should be alright after tomorrow. If he is lucky, he will recover fast than that. I heard that this year's ShuCha have already finished the testing and some of the high-level ShuCha have been chosen by the high-ranking masters to be trained. If they start early, we might get some of the spiritual food." The young man just nodded as if this wasn't at all interesting or important. "Laying still here should give him some time to consider his mistakes." With those words, he turned around giving the other two a stern look and walked away.
The two boys quickly bid goodbye to their friend stumbling over themselves to follow with the young man. Mo Shin Yun was about to turn away his attention when he felt a pair of eyes burning into his skin making the hair on the back of his neck stand up. Look over to the door once more he saw the young man standing there starring at him for a second before he turned away completely disappearing with the two boys scuffling behind him.
After what just happened Mo Shin Yun was even more confused. What was ShuCha? What was a sky level and what was spiritual food? Nothing made sense to him. But most importantly who was the man and why the hell did he glare at him like that? It all made less and less sense to Mo Shin Yun. But there was something he gathered from the conversation he over-heard. There clearly was something like martial arts in this word. It had to be. Why else would those kids train hard enough for one of them to bleed and the wound had looked like it was from a sword. Definitely martial arts. But other than that, he was still just as helpless in this new world as a child. He wanted to get out of the hospital pavilion and find some library to look up everything about this world but he was still weak.
"You need to take your pills." The young girl appeared next to him with a small tray with medical tea and two pills on it. Mo Shin Yun nod carefully sitting up to take the pills. "I hope the scene just now didn't make you feel uncomfortable." The girl didn't leave right away but instead sat down next to his bed. Somehow Mo Shin Yun got the feeling that she wanted to talk about what just happened and he was more than willing to do just that in the hopes he would get more information.
"Don't worry I'm ok I have seen blood before. Do things like that happen a lot?" He asked trying to get a conversation going and the girl right away took the invitation to talk. "They happen now and then mostly when some of the young students have a breakthrough and get all excited so they overdo it during training. But normally it's not that bad. At most a few broken bones and some small injuries nothing we can't heal up quick."
Mo Shin Yun smiled. "You really are capable, being able to heal wounds like that so quickly." The girl's face was covered in a soft red when she heard his comment. "No, no I just help, giving the patients the spiritual pills and if we are lucky, we get some leftovers from the spiritual food the ShuCha but for minor injuries mostly pills are enough. I really don't do anything special." Mo Shin Yun turned to look at her. "Still, it must be difficult to always know when to use what pill." He added seeing that compliments loosened the girl's tongue.
"It isn't that difficult. I just follow the priests' instructions. You know the priests make the pills I just listen to what the priests tell me. The medicine cabinet is labelled as well." She quickly replied nodding her head towards a big wooden shelf with hundreds of little drawers all with big labels on them. Mo Shin Yu couldn't help but chuckle softly.
