The Bow That Reversed My Fate

Untimely Regression

Untimely Regression

Apr 23, 2023

Dahlia Von Perez Alugia, the fifth princess of the Alugia Empire, was running for her life. She rode her horse as fast as she could, but the assassins pursuing her were skilled and relentless. Her heart was pounding in her chest as she tried to think of a way out of this mess.

"Why are they after me?" Dahlia wondered frantically to herself. "I've always stayed out of their way. I don't want any part in this bloody battle for the throne."

Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her body as an arrow hit her horse. The animal bucked and threw her off its back. Dahlia fell through the air and tumbled down a steep cliff. She landed hard on the rocky ground below and felt her body break upon impact. Her vision blurred, and she struggled to breathe.

As Dahlia lay there, gasping for air and bleeding profusely, she noticed a blue glow emanating from a pedestal nearby. Her eyes were drawn to it, and she felt as though the bow on the pedestal was calling out to her. With her last bit of strength, she crawled towards it, ignoring the excruciating pain coursing through her body. She managed to grab hold of the bow, hoping it would save her.

But it was too late. Dahlia took her final breath and closed her eyes, resigned to her fate.

Suddenly, Dahlia jolted awake, gasping for air. She looked around frantically, disoriented and confused. She found herself in an extravagant and luxurious room adorned with gilded mirrors, fine silks, and ornate furniture. The room was quite familiar to her, as it was her own chambers in the palace.

As Dahlia tried to piece together what had happened, she heard a knock at the door. A maid entered the room without permission, and Dahlia recognized her as one of the servants who had mistreated her in her previous life.

"What is it?" Dahlia asked curtly.

"Your Highness," the maid said, sneering at Dahlia. "I was sent to help you get dressed for the day."

Dahlia gritted her teeth, furious at the maid's disrespectful attitude. In her previous life, Dahlia had always been treated as a lowly member of the royal family, and the servants had taken advantage of her position.

"I'll dress myself," Dahlia snapped, her eyes flashing with anger. "You may leave now."

The maid hesitated for a moment, clearly surprised by Dahlia's sharp tone. But she quickly regained her composure and sneered once again.

"As you wish, Your Highness," she said, before turning and walking out of the room.

Dahlia took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She realized that this was her chance to change her fate, to assert her power and authority. She knew that it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to succeed.

"This time," Dahlia said to herself, her voice filled with determination. "I won't let anyone treat me like a doormat. I'll show them what I'm capable of."

She picked up the book she had just written in and placed it on the shelf. It was a secret she would keep hidden from everyone in the palace, including her own family. Dahlia knew that if anyone found out what she knew about the future, it could mean danger not only for her but for the entire empire.

As she looked down at her palm, she noticed the dragon tattoo. Once she looked at it closer the black tattoo glowed blue and then faded the blue energy that had emanated from it earlier was gone, but she couldn't shake the feeling that it held some sort of power. "What are you?" she whispered to herself, tracing her fingers over the intricate lines.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "Who is it?" Dahlia called out. "It's Melissa," came the reply. Dahlia's heart sank at the sound of her name. Melissa had been one of the worst offenders in her past life. She was always quick to mock and belittle Dahlia at every opportunity. Dahlia knew that she needed to get rid of the servants who had treated her so poorly, but she also knew that she needed to be careful.

She opened the door to find Melissa holding a tray of food. "I have brought you your lunch," Melissa said, her tone mocking.

Dahlia gritted her teeth and forced a smile. "Thank you, Melissa. I'm not hungry right now, but I'll eat it later."

Melissa raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised that Dahlia was being polite. "As you wish, Your Highness," she said with a small bow before turning and walking away.

Dahlia watched her go and took a deep breath. This was just the beginning. She needed to gain respect in the palace, and that meant getting rid of anyone who saw her as weak. She turned back to her room and began to plan her next steps. She needed to find allies, to make connections with people who could help her achieve her goals. But first, she needed to get stronger.

Dahlia sat down on her bed and began to meditate. She closed her eyes and focused on her breathing, trying to quiet her mind. But even as she sat there, she could feel the power of the dragon tattoo pulsing beneath her skin.

"What are you?" she whispered once again.

Suddenly, there was a flash of blue light, and the bow she had picked up at her death earlier materialized in her hand. Dahlia's eyes widened in surprise.

"What is happening to me?" she said aloud.

But there was no one there to answer her. Dahlia was alone with her thoughts and her newfound power. And as she sat there, she knew that she was just beginning to scratch the surface of what was possible.

Dahlia stood up, bow in hand, and walked to the balcony of her room. She looked out at the palace gardens and focused on a target in the distance. Without even thinking, she pulled back the bowstring and magical arrow appeared. She was shocked at first but knew that there was something magical about the bow. She then released the arrow.

To her amazement, the arrow sailed through the air and hit the target dead center. Dahlia couldn't believe what she had just done. She had never been particularly skilled with a bow before, but now it seemed like second nature to her.

The dragon tattoo on her palm glowed once again, and Dahlia knew that it was responsible for her newfound abilities. But she still didn't know why or how it had come to be on her skin. She turned to go back inside, but something caught her eye.

In the distance, she could see a group of guards approaching her room. Dahlia's heart raced as she thought that she had been caught with a weapon, and the punishment for that was severe. She started thinking about where to hide the bow then suddenly, the bow returned to the dragon tattoo. She was freak out but tried to calm herself down. She couldn't let them see her panic. She took a deep breath and opened the door just as the guards arrived.

"Your Highness," one of them said, bowing. "We have been sent to escort you to the dining hall." Dahlia nodded, trying to hide her fear.

"Of course. Lead the way." As she followed the guards through the palace, Dahlia's mind raced.

What could the emperor want with her? And why did he send guards to escort her? She tried to keep her breathing even and her face neutral, but inside she was terrified. She had no idea what was waiting for her at the dining hall, but she knew that she had to be prepared for anything.
