The One Warrior
It’s night. The vast and dark sky is and two yellow moons give the night a bleak feeling. Thin clouds slowly embrace the yellow horizon bringing coldness to the already gloomy atmosphere. Below, in the middle of dense vegetation these is a hidden castle. Inside of its walls there is boy that will soon become a man. He is now at the window of his bedroom contemplating the fascinating view. With his telescope in hand and heavy heart he searches the skies. He doesn't know what he is looking for. He only knows he is empty.
A few stores down in the large living room, two house employees are cleaning the sophisticated, royalty style mahogany furniture.
“This house is beautiful. I love the way it’s decorated. It’s a mixture of old and classic. Modern and rustic.” Dinha said mesmerized.
“Since when you appreciate furniture, Dinha?” Asked Mure.
“Mure, you know better than I do that our master pays us the equivalent of a doctor’s salary, so don’t assume that I didn’t have a good financial situation before I started working here. I like nice things.” Dinha affirmed.
“As far as I know you are one of the finest warriors of the region, which is very noble, but I didn’t thing you were one to appreciate art and home décor.” Mure said with a big smile on her round face.
“Just because I am a warrior it doesn’t mean that I am a cave woman. For example, those pocket glassy walls and all the technology built in this mansion is mind blowing. The holograms are so much nicer here. Well, but we don’t get paid to be interior designers. Shut you pot hole and let’s get back to work!”
“Very funny. But talking about technology Max is coming to let’s us know that we need to serve dinner. That cute robot is adorable. I almost love him as much as love certain humans. Talking about humans, where is the boy?”
“Mure, dear he is at the same place he goes every single day. He is on the top of his favorite mountain looking at the stars.” Dinha said as she walked toward the kitchen.
“I hope he is not thinking he can just summon his mommy to take care of his boo boo filled with vibrant stars.” She nodded her head in disagreement as Dinha came back with a very sophisticated set of porcelain plates.
“Master is coming for dinner and if I were you, I would be very careful of the way I talk about his son. Braven is a good boy. He is just…”
“Soft and weak. He will never be a fraction of what his father is.” Mure stated sadly.
Thirty minutes earlier on the top of the mount Jared a shadow of a young man was blended with the gloominess of the cold night. His heart was full and heavy. Tears fell down his youthful face.
“Mom, I wish you were here. I feel so lonely and misplaced in this mortal life. Please help me find the strength and courage inside of me to help me become the man that everyone expects me to be.” He pleaded on his knees. “I can’t be that man by myself. I need a real occupation. I need friends a real life. The prime of my existence so far has been me confined within the glassy and cold walls of my own palace. I need to get out. I need to see the world. I need to face the hardships of life and experience defeat, victory, lust and love. All I have is fear and disgust of this very sophisticated and mediocre situation.”
Braven’s tears lasted for a while and then silence came along and with that the sensation of peace that he really needed to feel. At that very moment the warmth of his father’s arms surrounded and melted on his bosom.
“Hello son. Come closer and rest on me.” Dieter said as he leaned down to meet his son’s level. Both men remained silent for a few minutes until Braven felt it was time to speak.
“I am OK dad. Don’t worry about me.” He said as he turned to face his father. The head judge was dressed oh his formal warrior apparel and looked more powerful than usual. The great leader of the twelve regions knew how to cause an impression. Even on his own son.
“Dad, are you going back to the capitol?” Braven asked.
“Yes. There is a lot going on with the Council and I am assuming I need to stay there until next week. Dinha will be here to protect the house, so there is no need to worry. She is the best warrior of the regions and the tutors should be back tomorrow to resume your trainings. Now let’s enjoy a delicious meal together. Dinner will be served in ten minutes.”
Both men walked slowly back to the palace. Only a few words were spoken during dinner and Braven went straight to his sea room after that. The specific room was located a few levels underground and had a ten ft high glass wall between the sea and the bedroom. The compartment was in fact an aquatic module that could be detached from the palace, in case of invasion. This way, whomever was inside could easily escape through the water without being detected. From his bed Braven could admire many kinds of marine life. Sleeping with a real-life aquarium was one of this favorite way to relief his stress. However, that night he didn’t sleep well.
The morning came very softly, but the noise of someone opening Braven’s bedroom door woke him up abruptly.
“Good morning young master!” Said a soothing but unknown voice. Braven turned to face the female being who had the nerve to enter the privacy of his room without being expected.
“I brought you breakfast Sir. I hope you like it.”
He opened his eyes and saw her.
