He sees the wall. The intangible wall that spans all around that most cannot see. He knows it is there, because he can see through the wall. He sees it beyond the wall, and it sees him. It cannot pass through the wall, as there are no doors or windows. It simply watches. He sees it, watching him. It is a creature of unspeakable horror. He has watched it watch him for long enough. He has become used to the actions of it watching from beyond the wall.

He works, it watches. He cooks, it watches. He showers, it watches. He goes about his day, ignoring the thing that watches beyond the wall. When he watches, it watches. Sometimes, it performs unspeakable evils while he watches. He has become numb to the actions of it watching from beyond the wall.

One day, he sees a girl. She is beautiful. She knows he is there, because she sees him watching her. He sees her, and she sees him. They meet time and again. She is a creature of unspeakable beauty. Years pass and she moves within his walls. They are happy. He has become distracted from the actions of it watching beyond the wall.

He works, she watches. He cooks, she watches. He showers, she watches. He goes about his day, enjoying the things she does within his walls. When he watches, she watches. Sometimes, she performs amazingly wonderful things while he watches. He has become blind to the actions of it watching from beyond the wall.

One day, his heart breaks. She is broken. She knows her time is short, because she sees him watching her. She sees him, and he sees her. They speak time and again. She is a creature of fleeting light. Days pass and she is trapped within his walls. She is sad. She does not know of the actions of it watching from beyond the wall.

She falls ill, he watches. She withers away, he watches. She drifts into eternal slumber, he watches. He grieves and remembers his life with her. He remembers the day he met her. He remembers the day before. He has become awake to the actions of it watching from beyond the wall. 

He sees the wall once again. He looks beyond the wall. It is not there. It is not watching. In the wall, where it would watch, is now a hole.
