The last day of classes… It's such a bittersweet moment, isn't it? I finally get a reprieve from the endless stream of homework, not to mention tests, but it'll be the last time I'll be able to see my friends regularly for entirely too long. I wish we were all neighbors, it would make get-togethers so much easier.
Sigh. Exhaling deeply, I can't help but feel conflicted.
“Well, let's get this day started!” I gently smacked my cheeks and went for one final glance at the bathroom mirror, just to make sure that I don't have any egg on my face from breakfast.
My alice-blue eyes reflect the gentle hue of pink that's begun to wash over small, light brown dots scattered across my cheeks. It seems the gentle smack I'd done was enough to leave a mark on my fair and ever so radiant skin… Okay, let's be real, I'm whiter than a glass of freshly poured milk and I definitely have a few pimples that'll let out their own milk soon enough. Yuck.
Well, it seems my freckles were not to be outdone so easily. They're making sure to poke their way to the surface, slightly dimmed by the rosiness I'd only just been the cause of.
“No egg, we're off to a good start.”
I fluff my curly chestnut hair one last time, contemplating throwing it into a bun or a quick ponytail but ultimately opting to go with a silken head-scarf I'd gotten on my last adventure to the mall. Sliding the burgundy fabric under my frizzy mane, I tie a big bow at the top. Shimmying the soft material just enough so that the, perhaps slightly flamboyant, bow is now on the side of my face as opposed to the top of my head; I feel like I'm able to look at myself somewhat more contentedly after all that.
“Alright, well, can't delay this day any longer so I may as well be on my way.”
