The Disciplinary Comittee's Black Sheep

First Day of School (Part 1)

First Day of School (Part 1)

Jul 24, 2021

CASSIAN
Two hundred years ago the first magical creature was found in the Sweden norther lands, near from Norway. After the strange creature was cataloged as a real unicorn, just like the ones that appear in the myths anf fary tales a great illness afected the newborn babies arouna the world. Most of the babies that were diagnosed with the new illness died, but the ones that survived awaken incredible habilities, magic, a lot of differents kinds of magic appeared on different countries, the more powerful the magic a kid was born with, the more status their family get.

Years later the countries reached an agreement, to avoid wars that couldn't been managed because of this habilities some neutral organization should be the one above all this mages, "Exos". This built the bases for a new era for the humanity.

And this leads us to where I was, my first day of school at the most prestigious school in the world, The Arick Academy. Named in honor of the researcher who discovered the first unicorn. This school was the pride of the noble families and the royalty that ruled the magic world since "The Awaken". This families were the richiest and the most powerful among all the exos.

You should know what that means, studying here was a luxury just for the top of the world. For the people like me, people without a historical family, from an unknown family studying here was just a dream. The only way to make it here was with connections, sometimes the children of the noble families didn't awaken any magical power, in this particular cases the family sponsored children with incredible powers that, without the help of this families, wouldn't ever dreamed to be here.

Or at least, since the last year that was the way the things worked here. Because of who-knows-why one of the two principals of the school started a scholarship program to help promising children that were born without the facilities of a noble o royal family to study in the academy. The requirements to get in the program were a little different from the common way; meanwhile the powerful families paid large amounts of money to get their children a place on the school, the commoners like me had to taste our habilities to see if the magical power inside our body was enough to be among the standards of the academy. That's why the most of candidates were  rejected. Then we had to take a knowledge exam and spend six months on the school's facility learning the shcool manners and  strengthening our power.

It was just after this fussy tests and a lot of self sacrifice that they made us live that we were able to start attending the school, but the thins wasn't that easy anyway. Even if we won the right to be part of the Arick Academy by all that time the other "normal students" or how the world start to call them "the real members of the school"  were reluctant to see us as equals, we were not more than commoners for them, "black sheeps".

But even if the things were on that way, at least for now, on the first day the had no way to know who was a "real member" and who was a "black sheep". But at least for me, I couldn't care less, I was there because I was capable, unlike those daddy's kids that were they because of who their family was, I was there because of who I was.

Even among the black sheeps, the ties were poor, because of the competition that was fueled by the school system on the tests' time, we became cautious about the other. It wasn't strange that the ones that had the low score tried to dispose of the ones above them, making hard to make friends, even if that meant making enemy with te others.

As you can imagine, this would just bring problems, because the "solo tendency" of a black sheep would make easier for the people to make our life on the academy a hell our of it. Or that was what the school staff told us at the very end of the tests, so we were aware of what could happen if we draw attentions to ourselves.
