Chapter 1
Eggs
I’m a normal person. I act like everyone else. I look like everyone else.
“And just because I’m in a freaking play, doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with me!” I shout. I’m Amanda. I’m a Highschool freshman, and I like animals….. Love animals…. Really love animals. But, anyways, why was I shouting, you might wonder? Well, my three friends seem to think there’s something wrong with me.
“But plays are for nerds.” The know-it-all, Kris, responds. All three chuckle, But I don’t get it.
“Also, you don’t look normal. You’re ugly.” Of course, Jamie has to add this in. The group bursts into laughter. I’m now furious.
“Well, I don’t care if I ever see you again!” I say, before running off. Why hadn’t I done that sooner? I had horrible friends. But, they were my only friends. I stop to look at my surroundings. The School halls are the worst place for this. I look down, tears forming in my eyes. Those were my friends. I punch myself in the gut, before walking to my locker.
The next morning, I wake up on a swing bench outside. Had I really fallen asleep there? I was wearing my school clothes, and my backpack I had packed the day before was under the bench. I throw it onto my back, and run off on my way to school. There would be a scavenger hunt that day, and that was enough to motivate me. To add on to the excitement, I have auditions for the play after school.
