As Storm walked to school, the hot, summer sun beat down on his back. It was no colder than any other first day of school, but somehow the summer sun was letting them know that summer would miss them. Storm’s white cat ears twitched at any sound he heard, dreading the moment his bullies would see him. Storm was never sure why they liked to pick on him as he got decent grades, was average height and didn't look weird. Storm wondered if they bullied him just because he was a cat — the only one in the school, to be exact. Sure, there were other different cat species in the school, but Storm was the only house cat.
As the dreaded building came into view, Storm thought he saw a flash of black... yet when he blinked, it was gone. That was strange, but he couldn't ponder it for long as Jack and Kevin spotted him. Jack and Kevin were on the football team and also Storm’s bullies. Before Storm could react and run away, they were already on him. Jack was a bear shifter so he was big and mostly muscle, while Kevin was a fox shifter, meaning he was sneakier and more agile than Jack. The two always knew where Storm was and, ever since elementary school, they picked on him.
The first thing the boys did was corner him against a wall of lockers. Now, everyone in the school was used to the little cat getting picked on, so everyone kept walking like nothing was going on. Storm’s white cat tail dropped in fear, remembering the last time they did this. Just as he thought, while Jack was talking about how weak Storm was, Kevin snuck his hand towards Storm and grabbed his tail. Storm let out a loud, painful mew as his tail was pulled. The two bullies just laughed and then let go of his tail. Storm wrapped his tail around his waist and zoned out, knowing they would stop sooner or later. Just then, the school doors opened and a big gust of wind entered along with the amazing scent of Winter and snow.
Storm wondered why he could smell such an amazing thing because, as he looked around, he noticed no one else had. Just as he was looking around, he caught sight of beautiful golden eyes and couldn't look away. He didn't know why, but the gold eyes didn't look away either. He felt connected to them somehow. Just then, he felt a pain in his stomach and doubled over. Jack had just punched him in the stomach. Before Storm could blink, Jack and Kevin were thrown off of him and a tall guy, with black hair and the same golden eyes, was in front of him.
The weird guy growled at the two bullies not letting them hurt Storm again. Jack took the hint and grabbed Kevin before they both ran off down the hall to class. As the guy watched them run away, Storm quickly got to his feet. The other boy looked at Storm, but before he could speak the bell rang, signaling the start of class. Storm quickly ran off to his class not wanting to be late.
